MRP on a 97 Animal
« on: January 20, 2005, 09:04:01 pm »
Hi - I'm looking to fit an MRP World Cup system 1 on a 97 Proflex animal, and wondered if people could help me with BB size? It's an octalink XT crank and BB, I bought the cranks/BB/MRP secondhand together. The BB that came with them is a 73x118. I *think* the animal needs a 68 shell BB, so is it as simple as getting a 68x118 ES-71 XT BB?

Cheers,

Ian

I've had nothing to do with MRP's but I would of thought that if you purchased a new one you wouldn't be expected to fit a new B/B,so I'd say you need a standard size B/B to go with your MRP,I'm unsure what size B/B you would require with an Octalink system but the standard square taper that came on my old 856 (world cup frame) was 68x108mm.
Hope this hasn't confused matters
Simon.

Just had a look at some MRP's and there can be the possibility that a longer spindle could be required, if only they gave the extra length required over the standard spindle, but yes you are running a 68mm shell so will require a new B/B.
