Helix Expert eye to eye
« on: March 21, 2003, 10:49:45 am »
Just bought a Stratos Helix Expert for my K2 Evo 3.0, its a 2000.  Bought the thing through Bikesource and go to put it on the bike.  By the way, took 7 weeks to get the shock.  Well the shock is only 7.5 inch eye to eye, I think my Noleen is more like 8.0.  The top bushing fits fine (the one for the frame), the swing arm bushing is nowhere near close. It is far too long.  Anyone with a Stratos know their eye to eye and bushing measurements.  Stratos doesn't seem to know about the order or what my shock measurements should be.  I'm not even sure I got the K2 tail.  Help please.

Thanks,

Tom

My Stratos Helix Pro measures 8.25" iei. My upper bushing measures 31mm, lower 24mm. I had to purchase a different tailshaft that is somewhere around 20mm longer. I think Stratos's customer service leaves a lot to be desired. I am thinking of getting rid of my Helix Pro and going to a Fox.

7.5"s is defintly on the short side....

your gunna have a super slack headtube angle which aint good... perhaps u can post up pics of your shock adn someone here with a Stratos/proflex tail can tell you if teh shock matchs theirs...

[smiley=dead.gif]

p.s. your lower bushings can jsut be ground/filed down till they fit into teh swingarm mount... thats a easy job...

good luck...
if i cry a tear everyday till A-line re-opens i'll have a lake in my house...8-(

send your shock back to stratos and get an 8+ " eye to eye shock. the 7.5" will lower your bottom bracket height and your pedals may strike the ground more frequently.
