Revised Floating brake system

I've revised my floating brake system and this is the

final setup,
firstly I've shortened the torque rod by around 1/2" and at the bracket end I added a yoke fitting,at the anchor end I've added a sealed bearing opposed to the original rose joint,I've also added some slots in the torque arm,apart from lightening the arm I think it looks better,any dirt ingress can be washed out as I've left the yoke end of the arm open,
on the floating bracket I made 2 stainless steel opposing bearing races (tight fit in the needle bearing) these also have built-in thrust washers to eliminate bearing twist,
I've added the drawings here and pic's and all should be self explanatory.

We went out (my son mega-oz and I) for a nice 28 mile ride in the most filthy conditions, it performed excellently and suprisingly absolutely no brake rub at all,with all the mod's welding etc everything seem's to line up perfectly.

I've been riding eggbeaters 2 years and like them a lot, with some reservatiosn...

• They lock in immediately under ANY conditions.
  They only release well once broken in and with a metal plate between the cleat and the sole.
  They are simple & light
  Got 'em for $50 USD from Nashbar on line.
  If you forget your riding shoes, you're outta luck.
  They look good.
  The learning curve is not as steep as SPD's - and it is like starting over
  

with clipless pedals.

As for the eggbeaters I love em and would personally recommend them to anyone,I had no trouble adapting to them.
Entry is easy,being 4 sided there always in the correct position for clipping in in awkward situations,plenty of float to protect those knee's,another neat feature is a grease port system,they are also rebuildable,I've never needed to strip them though,
just don't try riding in soft soled footwear though.

Thanks Dan,but from seeing all your recent efforts I can't see why someone like yourself couldn't attempt something like this or another mod of similar complexities,I think there many on this site more than capable of carrying out such mods,just requires abit of imagination (which there seems to be an abundance on this site) don't rush things, plan ahead and be prepared to make mistakes,most things are possible,infact I may be attempting another new mod in the new year on my son's Oz,could be interesting [smiley=laughing.gif].
