you'll end up with a usable 60-65mm of travel or so with it - very different from the crowd and you'll get lots of looks.  seems like a solid unit -

It has supposedly been used all of six times. It came of a Baracuda bike and has been sitting around since.

I can't wait to get it, I've never riden one so it will be interesting to see how diferent they are to my Fox Float80RL's.

I'm afraid changing your Fox for a Xlink, will be a step back in time. True: the Xlink looks much much better, but also true: a Fox Float 80RL is better.

BTW: just my opinion.

The fox is on my Specialized Epic. I have no plans to change that bike as it is my race bike and has done a pretty amazing job for the last 12 months.

The Girvin is for the rebuilding of my 955 frame. At this stage it is looking like being rebuilt as a single speed, but we will see what happens.

now I understand you. For a moment I thought you had a Fox on your Proflex (don't know wether that fits at all) and wanted to go to a Xlink. That would be a step back in time. But most of all I think a proflex with other forks than a Vector or Xlink is not a real proflex. But, again, that's just my opinion and only based on the fact that my two proflex's had a  Vector and a Xlink...

Well the forks turned up today. They appear to be pretty much brand new except for the odd spot where a sticker is peeling.

Just playing around now trying to get them on the bike. Anyone have any installation tips.

What should the critical measurement be? I  downloaded the noleen xlink manual which states 163mm. Is this the same for the Girvin?

depends on the U.L.M. -

the pic of the one you posted is the older U.L.M. (sharp bend down and you can see the shock thru the little window) with a 153 C.M.  

I'd start there -

the later models had the 163 c.m.'s

yep i am with OP, girvin crosslink(as opposed to noleen crosslink) = 153 cm (for a standard)hence the two legnths shown in the 98 bike manual,as the 1000 2000 and 3000 had the girvin crosslink fitted and were rebadged x97,s
