Same Old BB Question
« on: August 05, 2004, 11:12:21 am »
Ok I got an 856!

I think it uses the 68, but I am not sure how long!
In this forum you guys said many different sizes

110 or
113 or
118 or
121 (ES-51)

So what is the size I need

The UN53(Shimano) looks like it has the square ends I need for my crank. Is it any good or should I look for another one! (Man I fell like such a newbe)

Your cranks have a lot to do with the spindle length.  On my '98 that has a 68 mm shell I ran a 108mm with '95 xtr cranks with good results.  113 is also a very popular choice.  I would bet that the 113 is your best bet.  I do like the xt un72 better than the lx and the price is fairly close.  Since most people have moved to the much better splined interface the square taper stuff goes cheap.
