Crosslink sizes 5500 / 857

Hi all,
Can anyone tell me (authoratively) wether there are any issues with fitting a set of Carbon Crosslinks from a Large 5500 to a Medium 857 ?
The issue I'm concerned with is: (from the manual)
"The Noleen Cross-Link comes in a Standard size (for bicycles with 90mm to 125mm head tubes) and a Long size (for bicycles with 126mm to 160mm head tubes)."
Now I though the "Long" was only used on "Way-Big" 857's, was it used on the Large 5500?
When I measured the metal head tube of the frame on my 857 I came out with 120mm (as expected) and including the bearing cups top and bottom, 145mm.

I am not 100 percent sure but i dont think you will have any issues.My way big 756 uses a std vector.....If you are worried post some numbers,like the distance between upper and lower pivot bolt points on the legs.

all oz's (medium and large) were built to 123 mm -
authoritative as per dave tweede (dt)

the "Long" will work, but you'll need a lot of extra spacers to accomodate the critical measurement of the particular fork and for proper angles and movement of the fork.

the Frame Geometry chart from my original 1997 catalog lists the heat tube length of the "Way Big" models at 120 mm.  

the Noleen Crosslink Owners Manual lists:

Noleen Cross-Link Long at a 200 mm CM

Way-Big 3000, 2000's Way-Big fork at 190 mm CM

Way-Big Cross-Link forks with a 200 mm CM is listed for the K2 Bike 550C, 4500C, 5000, 4000 (with Cross-Link Long forks)

The 3 large carbons that i own or owned were all shipped with standard crosslink forks.  I wouldn't ride a large carbon with a 190 or 200 mm CM crosslink on it, you can do it but there may be better options.

I've bought a Carbon Crosslink from Peter in the USA taken off of his 5500C and I've got a Medium 857 frame with a Carbon Rear triangle on it.
I might move all of the gearset off of my XP-X onto this frame, or then again I might just build up the 857.
I'm sure from my "97_bikes" "attack_geometry.shtml" printed in 1998 (can't find this anymore on the K2 website) that the head tube on way bigs was 160mm and one I've seen a photo of definatley looked bigger.
But that's irrelevant to me if the head tube on 5500's is in the 120ish range.
Looking forward to building this up.
Any info on my other posting about recharging a Noleen Smartshock, Peter reckons that's all it needs , so I'd like to avoid the £69 full service charge if poss.

colin, ya might go to dt's site in links - he spent a lot of time putting the info together a few years ago.

Paul my friend - unlike last year, the fires are not being started by my white hot disc calipers and rotors as i'm skittering my way down the mountain trails like a supernatural squirrel avoiding the local lions.


must be someone else  - they're not in my riding areas.

i've been concentrating on my archery skills for the upcoming elk hunts - one OTB experience and i could kiss it goodby so i'm riding pretty conservatively.  bought a black widow longbow and am looking for or going to order a takedown - the lefties are hard to come by.  one just came and went on ebay for 350 and it would have been perfect but it came and went in an hour while i was at work - drat!
