"Hey, I'm planning moving to Hanolulu, is it really hard to find job over there,"

I guess it depends on the type of job.  Things are getting worst since 9/11 and this Iraq War worry.

" and is rent really expensive,"

Yes!!!!

also how long do you need to be in state to become a resident?"

I assume you mean for school residence purposes.  I think 1 or 2 years, but I'm not really sure anymore.

" I'm planing to go to University of Hawaii, or Hawain Pacific University, not sure which one is better probably would like to live on campus. "

Universtiy of Hawaii is a State school and bigger.  Hawaii Pacific University is a private school with lots of international students.  UH is going through a budget crisis right now.  I'm not sure of HPU.  If there is a war, HPU might take a hit since lots of it's students are foreign.  UH has a campus, while HPU is located in the downtown business district.

"And were you born there or came from other place?"

I was born overseas, but my father is from Hawaii and I have lots of relatives here.

P.S.  The UH dorms are located near the bottom of the St. Louis downhill.  The 1996 or 1997 World Cup Downhill Championship was held at St. Louis.  Bad news is that it's  45 minutes climb by bike on STEEP paved roads to get to the start of the run.
