1998 K2 Proflex 2000 upgrade to disc

Hi everyone,
I'm soliciting input from anyone experienced with upgrading a Proflex 2000 to use disc brakes.
I have a 1998 K2 Proflex 2000. Everything is stock with the exception of the pedals. I would like to upgrade to disc brakes. I know I'll need (at the very least) news hubs and probably a whole new wheelset. At RDI, I found the adapters I need for mounting discs on the rear. However, it looks like I'll need to replace my Crosslink front fork, which I love. Does anyone have any recommendations on a fork I might get as a replacement. My requirements are (in order):
1) Have disc mounts
2) Not break the bank
3) Perform similarly to my existing fork
Thanks!

you're not going to find a fork that will be like the xlink, except for the much more expensive Looks. if you have the older world cup frame, which i think the 2000 is, i've heard good things about the rock shox Duke. it's light, can have 3-4" of travel and is low-priced. supergo had some with some cosmetic flaws for under $200. it has IS disc tabs and is easy to work on.
check under links for "comparison-pricing". it's a website that lists lowest prices for various forks, shocks and shimano parts.

Personally I am not a huge fan of RS forks.. my heart and loyalty lies with Marzocchi.. and I have 4 bies fittted with them in the stable...
However, for 2003 they are going down on bushing overlap.. and erring towards RS bushing sizes... so try to find a 2002 on sell out... and buy the best one you have funds for...
Do not go over 80mm travel though, of the steering will suffer and get all slow... unless you run a ton of sag and/ride extreme trails.
Hope this helps...
