Old question, but please help!
« on: April 18, 2004, 02:16:04 pm »
OK, sorry for posting a cliche' question, but I haven't checked this site in a while.  What do I need to do to get the Fox rear shock upgrade to replace my Mega Air pull shock?  I sent this thing off to California to have it rebuilt (www.noleenshockservice.com) and now it freezes up after a few minutes on the trail.  I contemplated getting a whole new bike because I'm frustrated with this shock.  However, the wife doesn't like the idea of me dropping 2 grand on another new ride (bought a roadbike not long ago...I know, I know).  I send the whole strut and shock to K2, right?  And how much will this set me back?  Is the performance worth it?  Is it hard to set it up?  Please help me out folks.  Thanks.

check out the ediscount eBay Razorbacks-you can buy an entire frame/shock for what this exchange might cost......

b4 u go overboard all you need to do to get your upgrade is click on the links button to the left of the screen and get the phone number to k2. call them direct they will help you i know because they helped me.

the fox is much better than the mega  [smiley=diaper.gif]. it looks better works better and it even smells better. rode mine all summer and this spring w/out any problems.

hope that helps.................peace ;)

I called K2 directly today.  I was very disappointed when the rep told me my upgrade to the new strut HAD to be handled by a K2 dealer.  So I called my nearest dealer (25 miles away, with NO K2's in stock) and they had no idea what I was talking about in terms of the upgrade.  They thought I could just order a Fox shock without changing the strut.  Guy told me to bring my bike in so he could have a look at it.  I love my Razorback, but I swear sometimes I feel like I'm on an island all by myself when it comes to servicing it (broke my '00 frame; had to go through a dealer just to order new O-rings!; mailed the shock from one coast to the other to have a sloppy rebuild; etc).  Was this K2 rep correct- I have to go through a somewhat suspect dealer to get the strut/shock upgrade?

maybe they changed their policy from the time i did mine. call them back and try to talk to someone from service. the reps are just sales guys and i dont think they try to go the extra mile unless your a dealer.

       good luck.............peace [smiley=blankstare.gif]
