Newbie Question

Okay guys I just picked up a '97 ProFlex 857 for 20 bucks!!!    and the front shock it the only thing wrong with it other than a brake cable, but anyway the front shock is toast and I know that noleen is out of business   and right now i'm a little short on cash so a new Fox Vanilla R is kinda outta the question. What I'm thinking about is buying a new front fork untill i can afford the fox shock, my questions are: 1 I'm thinking about getting the Noleen Mega Air from ediscount.com is that a decient fork? 2 Will it work to swap to that and still save the old fork? and 3 is there any downside going from a mono shock system to the dual air shocks??? and if I got some terms wrong i'm sorry the last bike i owned was (and don't laugh, at least not to hard) was a huffy.

Hi there.  Everyone on the <Save Some Weight> board on mtbr.com that has tried the MegaAir seems to really like it.  I really like the crosslink myself and like keeping my bike "stock".  But it is all personal preference.  If you want to keep your crosslink, check out this auction

ediscount is a great outfit and the Mega Air they sell is a good buy.  I own two.  If you have a problem it is easy to service.  You receive a lot of fork for little dough. If you bike can handle a 1 1/8 steerer tube it will fit just fine.  I threw on on an old 854.  It fit just fine.  That's all I have to say about that.

I'd go with a mega-Air, too

if you ever go disc you'll need a differnt fork and the mega-air has disc tabs.

as far as a fox goes for the rear, i'd instead go for one that will connect to the strut you have back there, like a risse or stratos.

btw does that fork have carbon legs i'd be interested in it, if it does.
