I just want to know if anybody has fit the new manitou swinger in the DM? will it fit? or what mods will I need?

what about the "SPV 4 WAY COIL" it cames in 8" I2I (I think) plus a 24" rear wheel, sounds like a fun ride!!........or not?

There is that Swinger that is made for Trek at 8.25 and 2" stroke which would be a perfect replacement.  I haven't seen it yet though.

i took one of those off a Trek Liquid and it would not fit.

i was really   'cuz it would be a near perfect match  .

my LBS says he can make anything fit....but i passed

What was wrong about the fit on your Oz?  And was it the coil or air Manitou?  BTW the Cane Creek AD5 would not fit my Oz or any other EVO type frame without grinding a bit from the underside of the shock and/or from the mounting plate on the swingarm.  It looked to be an acceptable amount esp. when I looked at what's been drilled out of the mounting plate to clear the valves on Fox Float shocks with no ill effect-but I couldn't bring myself to do it!  What's the max stroke allowable on our Oz- just curious.

there was very, very little extension on the lower eyelet to fit at the angle needed on the swingarm mounting plate. the bottom of the shock is very broad, all the way to the bottom...

it would have taken more than a wee bit of plate removal (like what is sometimes needed with the Fox) to fit

and the valve was buried in the upper mounting plate of the Oz.

too much trouble for me anyway. recent suspension frame design has taken away a lot of bob, the SPV type shocks have taken it one step furthur.

the Oz has a lot of bob there especially if you have poor pedaling technique and asking a SPV shock to do even more than it was designed to do....i just don't think i'd get the same level of performance as i would if i had a SPV on a rocker link or some other kind of advanced design....but i'm still curious to find out...might kill the dig in effect? too???

the Liquid that i did ride had the SPV and it felt so much more solid in the rear i thought i was on a hardtail, yet it took hits fine...helps having a Minute fork, too, i suppose. it climbed better than my Oz with a four inch fork...(geometry thing) and weighed about eights pounds more...'yup

still love my Oz, though

I have a Swinger 3 way coil on my SGS. It's 8" i2i. I can check it for a fit on my EVO frame if you would like.

Sorry been out of town since I last posted. Now I get home and its 5 degress in my garage. I'll try and check the fit tomorrow when it warms up a bit and post it tomorrow night(monday)

8 pounds more and it still outclimbed your Oz!!  Say it ain't soo.  Does anyone have a SPV on a single pivot like ours?  And yes, I suppose it-SPV- would have to affect/cancel the "dig in" as it is 1/2 of the bob effect.

i didn't put a stopwatch to it,  but  faster, mostly to the less bob and also the front geometry made for a nicer climb on a five inch fork.

dig in is nice when you need it though and the Liquid doesn't have that...fireroad climbs, yes it seemed faster..cog higher and less fatigue oh and faster down the hill for sure. maybe i mash my pedals more than i think.

would be   to see an Oz type frame/swingarm with slacker head angle designed for a fox vanilla type shock!

well, unfortunately it doesn't fit. My lower mount is already modified/filed to make my Stratos shock fit and it would take even more filing to make the Swinger work. It would be possible to file/cut a little off of the bottom of the seatmast and fit it, but thats probably not a good idea. Its basically like the Stratos in that it needs an extended tail on one end.
