gonna "Pump you up!" -
« on: October 02, 2003, 01:50:19 am »
good grief!!! -

i can't imagine having schwarzenegger (how ever it's spelled) as governor of california, but then again, look what we've got and what the alternatives could be -
then arnold doesn't look so bad, in fact, he looks pretty good.

my only hope would be that perhaps jesse ventura did his state good and was favorable to interests involved with the great outdoors (including mountain biking) when he got elected.  with a hummer and all, strictly out of self interests and even as their by product, arnold could be good for the mtb'ing crowd.

God help us -
how does california get into these messes?
where's ronny when you need him?

maybe we could match bikes to the candidates so those outside the Golden State and USA would get a better idea who you are talking about :P

for those who haven't a clue, CA is recalling their current governor Grey Davis. Arnold Schwarzenegger is amongst the over 90! candidates on the ballot, including such notables as Gary Coleman.

Grey Davis rides a Cannondale
Cruz Bustamante rides a Hufffy with a cracked frame
"Arnold" rides.....

somebody keep this going.....

me? Yes and Arnold,
ahhhh Ronny, my fav

Hey Ronny was an actor before he was Governor and President.  Maybe being an actor is a good background to have.

I sure miss Ronny.

Gray Davis on a Cannondale?! Hey, some of us here really like (and even own) Cannondales. Equating them with a loser like Davis is borderline defamation (to C'dale).

Based purely on a build comparison, I'd have to compare Schwarzenegger to something like a SC Bullit or some other long travel bike. On the other hand, since most body builders tend to be not so coordinated, perhaps a serious downhill bike is inappropriate. Maybe a Launch?
K2 5000 Large w/Avid discs, Bontrager Race Disc Modified wheels, Manitou Minute, Swinger 3-way
K2 5000 Med ("wife's") w/Avid V's, Mavic CrossLink wheels, Manitou X-vert, Risse Astro-5

Ahhh OP, I think that YOU would be a decent candidate for Gov.  I've been listening to your comments on biking for at least 6 years and know what?, You'd have my vote. Unfortunately, I reside in New York.  A good platform would be "Two fifth elements in every garage".  Our friends overseas must think we are a bunch of oddballs. Wonder if Kiwi imagines that we have all lost our marbles?
Please don't confuse American politics with everyday life in our wonderful country. Abe Lincoln must be turning over in his grave. Dan.

i appreciate that very much dan my man and if elected - - - -

i promise - - -

a free rebuild on all nr shocks
more travel from the existing crosslinks
adapters so we could fit a variety of shocks on all evo frames
smart shocks that had iq's higher than that of a fence post
roller bearings in all main pivot joints
an extra derailler hanger with all frames

and by request - two 5th elements in every garage

a baby kissing and very patriotic - - -

I must admit that American Politics and sometimes your "external affairs" seem at odds with my impression of you fine folk here......mind you i shake my head at our own politicians and Talkback Rradio......hmmm stranger than fiction(and noisy terminators..........risse or arnie)
I basically keep my opinions to myself, and hope my body lets me ride this summer!

I only hope that is is true that Arnold can't become president, 'cos he isn't born an american? For the rest: probably within a couple of months an other recall will save your souls.

and OP: I was told my smartshock failed to work all the time because it's to wet and moist overhere in Holland. Maybe you can, when elected, make sure a weatherproof smartshock will be invented. In that case you could do something positive not only for california, but for the (wet parts of the) world too.

Jeroen.

Kiwi,
i think its great that over there in kiwiland you call it "Talkback Radio". Over here in US its known simply as "Talk Radio". Once again, kiwis have a better name for things than do we yanks.
as for Arnie winning in Cali, well if he does, there will no doubt be a "Total Recall" election in the offing.
OP, if you are elected, an adjustable travel (3-5 inch) crosslink with waterproof smart shock and inertia valve would be good! also, how about a Curnutt shock that would fit all frames, esp. K2 carbons!

oh yeah, how about resuming production on the 5500/Oz frame, and a road version too!! but most importantly, please ban all SUVs from our roads and bring back the good old station wagon. thanks.

have a good time!!
