Swinging arm cable guide
«

The guide inside my swinger came out and i have been trying to re locate it with a s/s welding rod inside the tube but i am having trouble getting the rod to come out of one of the holes.
Short of removing one of the bracket ends like the drop-out end i have no idea how to do it.
When i push the rod down the hole and into the swinger there seems to be an obstruction inside.
And when i repaired a chaps swinger i found swarf from machining. [smiley=worry.gif]

Hi Dominic, I think there is a similar posting on here some where, when I replaced the cable guide in my s/arm I found it easier by pulling out the ferrule on the dropout (it can be tight) this gives you access to a larger hole to try and feed a guide/cable through.Simon [smiley=laughing.gif]

It's only a little further to the top.

That cable tunnel in the carbon swingarm can be a real pain. Over time the nylon tube inside can become brittle and disintigrate. I just pryed off both of the metal ferrules from the swingarm, (they are just a press fit) , removed what was left of the nylon tube, and run my cable housing straight through.

gary,
I would like to run my shifter cable housing all the way to the rear derailleur. Less grit will get into the housings and shifting should be sharper. Also metal cable housing's ends sometimes make noise when they rub against the frame's cable end stops, as the swingarm goes through its travel. I will have to wait for the inner nylon housing to go brittle.

Pedro,
No need to wait. The nylon tube will either disengage, or break when you pry off one of the ferrules, but it should remain attached to the other so you won't have to fish it out.
On mine, the front ferrule came out easily by prying it with a small screwdriver blade. I had to grip the rear one with a vicegrips and slowly tap it out with a mallet.
