Midnight (857)
« on: August 23, 2003, 01:36:50 pm »
hei guys i`ve posted some pictures of my bike in the gallery under rawwill...there`s still some work and sticker to be put on...but basicly everything is on.. :)
i made a lil mistakes on the seat...look ugly but it`s sure is comfortable...here`s the specs

proflex 857 Frame
Full XT, mavic 321 with XT rear and Marzocchi 20mm front hub, RST sigma 8" fork and astro rear, Avid mech 8" with hammer head adapters, Black Glitter powder coat and Strong frame emblem...velo plush sit(sooo comfortable and huge haha) still lacking of fenders and flame stickers(anyone got any suggestions?) need a lil flare..and it`s ready to go..
i might be selling this bike ...usd 2000 maybe..no scratch no cracks....gurantee :)

Pretty nice bike. But I wonder about the strength of the rear. The 857 does not look strong enough to withstand the punishment that the front can take. Also $2000.00 seems a bit high. At my local bike shop you can get a Santa Cruz Bullit for $2400. Although with a DJ not a triple clamp. Keep on ripping.

Looks....unique! That's certainly one of a kind. I can't help but wonder what you were thinking in putting a fork that long on a strictly XC frame. Not that I'm holding it against you! If it works, that's great. Don't let anybody tell you it looks funny!

ahh that`s the intresting thing about the 857..because of the 8" front shocks the dimensions of the bike changes and i ended up with a rear suspension system that works better than it is...most of you might not realize it.. $ 2000 because the wheelset cost $300 bucks each and the retail for the front fork is $1959...and nope jenson usa doens`t see em anymore...
you will be surprise how strong the rear is actually and if it ever get snapped..i had the blueprint of it figure out and will have a beefier titanium one built by strong frame..easy..

bike looks real good. the powdercoat looks great.
I really dig the seat, tho. that thing is awesome.

prices on stuff: an RST fork for nearly 2 grand?
monster T's and Shiver DC's are waaaay less than that.
Chuck's Bikes has 'em for 399.00.

anyway, the bike looks cool, have fun ridin' it!!

I hope you are right about the frame. Looks stock to me. Very clean job. You really want some feedback on your bike, post it in the MTB Photo gallery. I know that was mean. I would agree with you on the seat, made for a cruiser. Rich
