Carbon frame bottom bracket insert
«
on:

Hi.
I know someone that has a broken carbon frame (not sure what type exactly) When I tried to replace the bottom bracket the bottom bracket insert came loose. As far as I know he was going to strip that bike and use the parts on an other frame.
Would it be possible to fix that carbon frame? It would be a shame to not try to fix it.
But maybe it is to late already. It was a few months ago and I didn't think about it at that time.

Silly question may be, but are we talking about a proflex carbon frame as they only made one type? This being a Proflex forum after all!??

Yes, it is a Pro-Flex. I wasn't sure if there was a difference between the frames.

Ok. As above and glue of choice would be Araldite, an epoxy two part resin. I've used it to do minor repairs on my carbon frames and it works s treat and looks factory.

Thanks Colin and Chris.
I will see if he still has it and what he wants to do with it. If I remember correctly it was a large, so it should fit me nicely.
Edit: Chris, do you know what type Araldite you used. I see they have a few different epoxy resins.

Ive had mine for years but they all seem to be rapid cure now, mine is standard long cure. To be honest mine takes 36 odd hours to dry so go for rapid. They all seem to do the same thing so get any of them - but as long as it says plastic on the list of uses.
have a look at what they use Araldite for, its quite amazing.
