The original vector forks had a 3 piece lower link. The 2 sides clamped over a tube. When the fork was twisted in a crash, the links would twist and could bind up. All of the crosslink forks had the solid link.

Ah. Yes, now that you mention it, I had that exact problem, though my Vector worked well enough to last a couple more years before I tossed it in favor of a telescoping fork with better damping and a sane wheel path.
