Rear shock base contacting frame
« on: December 02, 2009, 09:40:26 pm »
Playing around with mounting a fox RC150(from my Oz) on my Evo build.  I have new spacers, but the base of the shock contacts the frame a wee bit.  This part of the shock will not move much, but I don't want to damage the frame.  Seeking the thoughts of the collective.  Will this be or create a problem?  The bike is not built up yet, so I cannot test ride it.  Pictures are below and in my gallery.

Remove the spring and re-attach the shock and see if you can cycle the swing-arm through it's travel to see if the contact gets better or worse as the shock pivots a bit on the upper mount.
IMHO, I think it'll get worse.
So probably a bit of grinding to do on one or t'other!

I think a Swinger will fit on an Evo type frame, I'll try it on my 4000se.

The Evo rear shock frame spacing is 33-34 mm compared to the 29mm of my 5000 and 39mm of my Oz.  Would be interested in knowning if a Swinger would fit the EVO.  The Pearl 3.1 barely clears my 5000 frame.  Will post pictures soon.

FYI: Fox was great and allowed me to purchase directly rear shock bushings for $5 + shipping.  Rock Shox (for a Pearl Rear Shock) bushings are going to be in $15 range and will only sell through their distributor to LBS.
