proflex 4000 air shock wanted

Been running an x fusion air shock for 2 years,it's a bit short at 200mm but has done a good job.Thinking of replacing it with something a bit longer ( is 233mm about right?) any suggestions,anyone have a shock to sell?

Ummm, that seems a bit long at over 9 inches i2i, but may be just what the doctor ordered if you think so. Standard is 208, and I have used 215 with great results. I don't think I would want to use 233mm as brake jacking would likely pitch me over the bars. >:( >:( >:(

Actually now that i think of it, 233 is just too long.

Manitou Swingers. A coil 4way, and air 3way. The air shocks I have mounted with cross adapters.

On my 4000, I measure that the min/max "hit" points of the swingarm are at shock lengths of 130mm and 240mm (just divide by 25.4 for inches) with "safe" limits of 135 to 235mm.
So at a maximum, I reckon (note the word, not experience) you could use a 9 1/2"  shock with a maximum stroke of 4".
WOW! That would theoretically result in a 10" travel 4000!!!!

But I agree that that would raise the rear end up considerably, but modern forks can equally raise the front end.

I bought a brand new 2009 Fox Float R (8.5" length) for my 4000 from Universal Cycles but never ended up using it because Risse repaired and sent back my dampers. The Fox cost be $250 brand new, but I'd let it go for $200 since I'm not using it.

I think the stock shock is 8.25", but the extra .25" doesn't make a difference and on my Way Big 4000 raised the bottom bracket only a bit.

The shock is officially covered by Fox's warranty for this specific bike and application...I had to send UC a bunch of pics, which they them forwarded to Fox, showing how the shock would mount to make sure that it was kosher. The whole ordeal took me almost a month and much going back and forth with UC.
