Risse Jupiter 5 for sale
« on: February 10, 2003, 04:55:47 am »
This belongs to a former K2 owner friend of mine. Should give an EVO frame around 6.75" of travel.

Here's description:
Risse Jupiter 5 rear shock with rebound and compression adjustments, and reservoir. This shock was just rebuilt by Risse to change the stroke length from 2.0 to 2.5". It is 8" eye to eye, with 2.5" stroke. It's basically brand new. It hasn't been used since the recent rebuild. Will fit almost any bike that uses 7.875" eye to eye shocks.

Hey Prowler,
I'd like some more info.  What spring does it have?  Does it come with bushings? If so,what size?  How did it fit in an Evo frame? Any mods needed?  If you can email some pics, that would be great.

I have a medium Disco Monkey frame that needs a shock.  I'd like to build a DH oriented ride with it.

I unhid me email address so you can email me.

Hi, I'm the owner of the shock. I never had it on a K2. But I may have an opportunity to try it on for size this weekend....to see if it fits without any mods. I'd say that if a Fox RC will fit, this will fit. You can view a pic of it at the link below. Feel free to email me with any questions about the shock. If you visit the link with the pics, you'll find access to my email address. It should also be in my profile on this site. I have a 550 or 650 # spring that I can put on it, your choice. I don't have the bushings, but Risse will make them for $10 to any size you need.

It sure doesn't look like that Jupiter 5 will fit on an EVO frame.  The Vanilla RC's reservoir is a bit more compact than the Risse, I'm not sure there is going to be enough clearance.

Also, I found that you can reach down while riding and adjust the compression knob on the RC, and it might be pretty hard to get to even while stopped with the compression know at the top.

Just my .02.

Since there is more than one way to mount the shock, I think you might be mistaken on your assumptions. It works just fine mounted upsidedown. My RC is mounted upside down on my bike. Even right side up, I don't see where the reservoir would cause a problem. If a Fox will fit, the Risse will fit, simple as that. Plenty of people run shocks wit hreservoirs on EVO or Disco Monkey frames. See all of the examples in the link below, for yourself. Plenty of clearance.

Please let us know what size you are testing the shock on.  The Fox RC fits the Large and Way Big frames with slight mods, but the medium and small have some issues like having to run 24 inch wheels.  See picture attached where the owner had to run 24 inch wheels to keep the tires from hitting the shock.

I am suppose to ride with the seller this coming weekend and I will take my K2(large frame) and try it out if we can come up with some bushings that will work. Unfortunately, they are calling for rain at the moment, so it may or may not be pushed back a week. Whatever the case, if he hasn't sold it by then, I'll post a report.
