not necessarily so -

might try removing the piece,  lay it flat on a hard surface (concrete garage floor), heat it slowly, and gently tap with a hammer or such to straighten.

i've straightened various hangers that way and or placed them in a vice and used some vice grips to bend back to near straight.  i'll usually end up tapping them flat.

others have their own methods but those have always worked for me - no guarantees however - it reallly depends on how bad the bend is and how fatigued the metal is.

did it crack when you bent it?

OP

the hanger is not a high stress piece and i've seen some with weld marks on them and they held up for years

Here in the UK you can try www.cvi.co.uk or Sherwood pines cycle centre (01623 822855) they both supply K2/proflex parts you could also try Betd cycle components www.betd.co.uk they make replacement dropouts.Hope this helps Simon.  [smiley=nod.gif]
