Elastomer V's Shock - Performance

Not sure if this has been covered on here, couldn't find anything on a search.

I've got a few sets of the non ODS elastomer dampers for 955's and have been thinking of getting a set of the new elastomers from Rapid Decent to replace the shock and home made mount I have on the bike at the moment.

How do people find the performance of the new elastomers compared to the performance of an air shock like the risse?

The reason I ask is that I am not overly happy with the mount I made for my air shock, a little too much lateral movement for my liking. It was OK for the shock I designed it around, but that shock blew and with a Fox Float there is noticeable lateral flex in the system.

It looks like a new risse genesis for the bike will cost me 6 or 7 times the cost of the new elastomers (thank you weakening Australian dollar), but I don't remember the old elastomers being all that bad (it was 8 years ago that they melted).

I'm also thinking the retro appeal of the elastomers is nice as well, but if there is no comparison in performance I may need to reconsider and look at getting someone to machine me a new mount.

I'll be the first to say that the risse genesis is a LOT better than the elastomers.  (I know, I sell them).  However, before considering a shock upgrade check the frame really carefully for any problems.

I will be keeping an eye on that then.

I've actually decided to send my strut to a bike engineer over here (australia) to have my half done shock mount finished. I'll post pics when its done. But a second one for the other proflex would be sweet.
