Carbon Disc Adaptor
« on: November 03, 2008, 08:38:25 am »
hi Folks!

Just wanted to show you my disc adaptor on my IBS Titanium ... not a Proflex though, but one might see it.

Works pretty good now for half a year without any problem.

Made a plate out of carbon with 30 layers.
Cut the shape as needed and clued it on the frame.
Afterwards I drilled some 15 holes from the side into the carbon plate and sewed it with a carbon roving to the frame. Some resin on it and its ready to ride.

ya just gotta love the innovation and creativity of this group -

this is outstanding, right up there - and it works.

can't tell you the number of times i've been in a bike shop and someone behind the counter has said,

"don't touch the brake pads with your fingers"
"you shouldn't be working on your own bottom bracket"
"that rear derailler will never work with those shifters"
"you can't weld aluminum, what are you nuts?"

now we'll be hearing,
"you shouldn't sew on a rear brake adapter, slap some glue on it and expect it to work - you'll kill yourself"

well done -
(and please be careful with that thing)
