Noleen spring interchangeability
« on: February 25, 2011, 03:18:35 pm »
Has anyone used springs other than what is recommended on Noleen shocks?  For example, the smart chocks say to use NB2L springs and the NR-4s for the evo says to use NB175 springs.  I don't see much difference between the NB2 and NB175 springs and the NB2 mounts onto the NR-4 just fine.  My plan is to run a NB2 instead of an NB2L on a smart shock and an NB2T instead of an NB175 on an NR-4. Any thoughts?

I would have thought they could be swapped over fairly easily, just take note of the spring length and the weight/strength of the spring.

For the 855 through 857 just go with your body weight on the front spring and 1.5x body weight in the rear as long as the spring length and diameter are a fit.  At least that works for me on the ODS and Noleen shocks I use.

My old 5000 had a 200lb spring on the front but it was too soft for me so I'm planning to run a 225 on a future project.  The fork currently has a 250 on it and i think that is a little too much-I'm 190lb.  I'm thinking about grabbing a titanium 600lb for the rear.  I've been collecting all the springs that i can find since they are getting a little scarce.

That is the one I'm looking at.  He seems to have several of them.
