Total Oz miles: Still on the Yellow Brick road ;~)
« on: February 26, 2008, 05:58:59 pm »
Just tallied my Oz miles for 2007 and adjusted the total.  After the 2007 riding season (Jan-Dec  ;D) I ended with 8488 total miles on the bike since I built the frame up in 2003.  The last four years I have averaged 1900.  About 65% of my total miles.  I rack up most miles on Monday-Friday weekday before-work 5:45-6:45am rides with a local bunch.  We have trails within ~2.5 miles of home.  Going for the 10,000 mile mark this year.  Surprisingly, I haven't had to service the Fox rear shock yet.  Anyone else with similar good luck with their fox.

What are you doing on the road?
Your shock’s lasting so well because you’re still on the yellow brick road. ;D
It must be because don’t have enough hills around your way  ;) If you really fancy killing your shock why don’t you pop over here this summer, I’ll show you the downhill that burst my NR4 a couple of years ago.
I agree with you, it’s really quite pleasant riding before work. My commutes are about the only thing that enables me to make it through the day at work. A decent descent in the morning sets you up for the day.
You inspired me to count my bike commutes for last year; I climbed a total of 103km in 7260 km on the 4500 alone last year (I also raced 2 marathons and the local points series here in the alps, but they don’t count as they weren’t on the proflex )
Gosh I’ve never looked at it that way before, that must be why the rear hub’s started rumbling a bit…
My back yard:

And for those who have silly bikes like my friends in the film, the bus drivers are really good about putting them in the luggage compartment. If you’ve got a lurvely polyvalent 4500 it’s more interesting to ride up.
Happy trails
Luke

A little descent just down the road:
just for the fun of it.
Warranty replacements due to cracks detected in time (since 1989):

Luke,
Nice video on mondial VTT de Venosc.  Where is that trail?

So is that 7260 KM total for just one year on your 4500?   :o

I recently mashed the freehub body on my rear and had to change it.  Sounds like yours is almost due.
Here are a few from my backyard.  Moab is a long  :P 3 hours drive away for me ;D ;D ;D
