Had a nice day!
« on: February 10, 2008, 10:27:24 am »
Just coming to the end of another 2 week trip offshore, looking forward to going home tomorrow!
Need to put the finishing touches to PROJECT XP-8.
Anyway, had a boat drill this morning and 30mins after, one of the office girls throws a wobbler!!!!!!
RESULT, had to spend all day being evacuated to another platform by helicopter because she said she had a BOMB!!!!!!!!!!
If any of you saw it on Sky news, that was us.
Back on board now, no bomb, no worries, and looking forward to getting home tomorrow to finish the bike.
Ah a life on the ocean waves!!!

Yeah nice one Col!
If it dont fit in the kit bag, it dont go on the chopper! ::)
Suppose I could do it over a couple of trips, taking it out in bits!
12KG baggage weight wouldnt be a problem if I could get it out in a oner!

Is this a fair assessment of normal life out there?

you may have fake bombs but I had a real one. I was diverted off the cyclepath on the way to work because of this!

Believe it or not when I've had 2 weeks at home with Mrs752 and the little 752's this is where I come to de- stress!!!!!!!
Nice gym, nice sauna, big cinema, all my meals cooked(3/day), all my laundry done, excellent!
I was sat next to this girl travelling out on the chopper 2 weeks ago and sat next to her in one of the tv lounges a couple of days ago she was perfectly normal, she is actually Romanian, already done quite a few trips offshore. Its still not clear what set her off but she was due to travel back into the beach on the freight chopper yesterday lunch time but she never got that far.
What is for sure, she'll get the book thrown at her for what it cost for all the resources that was asigned to this.
14 helicopters
1 Nimrod
Britannia platform shutdown production
Alba platform shutdown production
3 lifeboats
MOD bomb disposal squad mobilised
Grampian police mobilised

Production on the platdforms alone is worth millions a day!!!
Anyway, supposedly going of today but its foggy andf the choppers are running 4-5hrs late, maybe a night out in Aberdeen is required for relaxation!!!!!!
Back online tomorrow!

PS.        ED, They've blocked Retrobike out here, refused access, maybe they think its to ILLICIT!!!!!!!!!!!
