How many miles on your ProFlex?
« on: September 08, 2007, 06:00:03 pm »
No it is not bragging, but indication of durability...hehe.  We all like to wallow in ProFlex gloating.  Stand tall fellow gloaters!

How many miles have you put on your ProFlex/K2?

I recently added up the total miles I have put on my Oz...so far.  Since June of 2003 when I completed the build I have logged 7968.5 miles or 12824 kilometers.

You are an awesome gloater! That is like 150 miles a week on your Oz!:-)

I don't ride just one bike, but since 2001, I have logged aproximately 3000 miles on my Oz, and since 2005, I have logged approximately 1000 miles on my 957.

Kerry, you're an animal! (Terry, that's actually an average of 40 miles per week, but to be able to consistently put in that many miles over 4 years is amazing...)

I'm too embarrassed to admit how few miles I've actually put on my bike (my excuse is that the battery in my odometer died and I haven't replaced in it a LONG time, so i don't actually know the mileage...)

I prefer to think of my riding in terms of how many vertical feet I've logged in free-fall... Just to give you an example of how technical our rides here in New York are, I did a 3 hour ride at Blue Mountain the other day that probably covered only about 10-12 actual miles, but my legs, arms, shoulders, and lungs were burning about 90% of the time! Those were 3 AWESOME hours... I've noticed that the riding here (similar to Gooseberry Mesa in St. George, UT) wears out my upper body at least as much as, and usually MORE than my legs! Now THAT's trail riding! I do miss some of the long descents in the mountains of Utah though.
Kerry, hopefully by the time I'm as "old" as you are, I'll have time to log more miles. In the mean time, I'm enjoying whatever (rare) rides I can squeeze into my work schedule... (And it always feels good when I can still keep up with the guys who ride all the time! - that's my token gloat for this thread...)

since i got my oz off simon ive done around 500miles on it but i must admit i havent done too many miles on it this year due to the loud cracking noise i get when putting pressure on the pedals, ive tried greasing the pivots but i think its going to be a major overhaul in the winter. simon how do you fancy doing me a sealed bearing job??
an oz is for life , not just for xmas!

I just logged 26 miles of high alpine bliss on saturday.  They were pretty hard miles, about 20% hike a bike.  My riding bud has the cycle computer so I dont know exactly how many miles in the past 8-9 years.  Guessing its  between 26 and 100,000 miles.

Relax wylyman, we dont need an EXACT amount, just a rough estimate will do.....

I've put about 50 miles on my animal since i got it this past
spring. I hang my head in shame. Maybe i can get in a few more, once I can get the f%#@ing rear maguras bled right.
I'm running out of time to do the things I'll never do.

Somewhere between 16 and 18 kilomiles over 10 years. Never less than 40 miles in a week unless I am injured...or bike is really busted. Some weeks over 100 miles...ooo, my legs are sooooo dead.
Parts left out cost nothing and cause no service problems.

Check the bottom bracket, I had exactly this noise on my XP-X and it was a cracked bearing cup.
Also check the little bushings on the rear shock, I had exactly this noise on the 4000 and all it was, was a siezed bushing that wasn't rotating easily as the suspension pivoted.
See my longer rambling on these problems some time ago.

1200 miles since March this year on the 4000.
( all off road - at least two ~18mile rides per week)

About 90 miles per week on the XP-X from 1997 to 2002 (72 miles road commuting plus an off road 18 miler)

Zero on the OzM! (as the wife keeps reminding me!)

Zero on the OzX (but this will be the wife's bike in 2008 )

Cool thread.  I have logged over 7,539 miles on my Oz over the past 7 years and I have other bikes.  I probably put another thousand or so on before the speedometer.  The Oz is still going strong--the frame, that is.  Every other component has been replaced/upgraded.  It is a wonderful bike.  I did have to reglue the seatpost once though.

It's been a while but the comp odo reads 830 miles on my 857.  However, I did switch the old comp after a year when it died during a slush run.  Gotta love the mud in the slush runs; the cleaning afterwards is what sux.  :)

I don't know.  My old 2000 had 2 race seasons and probably only 2 full summers of riding, but many memories.  I am just getting back to riding regularly after getting out of the Navy in '03, which is when I built my 5500 up.  I think it had about 300 miles on it before this school year started.  It must have almost 450 on it now.  Not much, but it's getting there.
