Proflex 753 looking for info
« on: August 20, 2007, 01:41:43 pm »
Hi Kiwi & everyone,,,
I just bought a 753 intact & complete in pretty good shape really,  w/the elastomers shot as per usual. I am going to get replacements from rapiddecentscotland soon as Callum figures out which ones will work for this early bike.

I'm looking for any tips & info on keeping this bike running & other maintenance problems or issues I may run into or need to be aware of... This bike has the Girvin Vector 1 fork & I cannot find info on what maintenance that may need, other than new elastomers of course. I have photos of the bike if anyone is interested, but I can't figure out how to make a gallery or attach them to this post - If anyone can give me a clue I appreciate it.

Best,

Jeanmario

I'd check all the bearings and seals on the forks and linkages and rear swingarm. Make sure all lubed nicely (I use teflon grease but others may use different) and tightened up to correct amount. Other than that the usual stuff for a bike! I have a 753 (among others!) and love it.

Thanks Dave! I'm looking forward to getting her apart so I can do that. I'll let you know how it goes.

For you proflex fans, here's a couple of "after" photos added to the "before" shots. Nice to have the 753 rolling now.

FYI elastomers were the VECTOR1 kit and 656Rsoft kit purchased from Collum at rapiddescentscotland. Paid $50 US for the bike and the parts cost another $80 US. A steal of a deal...
