seatpost QR
« on: May 15, 2003, 03:48:01 am »
can anyone recommend a quick release for the Evo seatpost. I had a Salsa one on my Stumpjumper, that I loved,  but it doesn't fit on the Evo. I like to lower the seat for steep tech stuff and don't like fiddling around with Allen wrenches.

  • It's only a little further to the top.

I think you're mistaken about the Salsa QR....I have one on my '99 4000. [smiley=nod.gif]

They have a couple different sizes....

Tom,

the Salsa I have is too big I think, it's a while since I tried it so I will have another look!

I'm not saying the one you have will fit....I'm just saying that if you really like the Salsa QR, they make one that WILL fit....I'm using it.  You'll probably have to buy another.

I just checked Jenson and they have a 'fliplock' that will fit, by Salsa. That is different to the older one I have, and looks nice. The Nashbar is a whole heap cheaper tho' !

I believe Salsa makes a 32mm which should fit.

Yes, that's the size I ordered for my Salsa.  My post had a thick coat of paint at the top so I had to press hard to get it on.  The Salsa is really nice.  Most of my riding buds use Salsa's.

Get the Salsa! (32mm is correct). I've been using the Nashbar one for a couple of years now, and it SUCKS. (Except for the price!) It's so worn down that I'm not sure it's even going to work much longer - and I hardly ever adjust it.

The FlipLock from Salsa is by far the best QR seatpost collar made. Too bad it's so pricey.

If you do get a Salsa, they updated their QR a year or so ago. Make sure you the new model instead of old stock.

 8) The Salsa QR works very well it is worth the few dollars more so you can have piece of mind. Supergo has them in stock you could get one pretty easily. Make sure to get your size.  8)
