I bought a GDT shock a while back and it didnt come with any hardware(cone, retainer, etc.) i made it work using parts from my old shock but i was wondering what the correct parts consisded of and if anyone had the right parts, or at least the cone end to fit the strut of a x56 thanks guys.

Never got my hands on a GDT to be sure, but I would have thought that the "cone" (Split Collet) would be specific to the strut rather than the shock, i.e. the same for the GDT and the ODS.
So replacing an ODS equipped x56 with a GDT should be fine?
If it's the GDT's that I saw for sale, I think they were missing their coil spring retaining plate, but otherwise OK?

Does anyone have a cone (split collet) from an ODS or GDT they would be willing to part with or sell? it would be a huge help!!

Hey Nightowl, I have a spare cone end for the shock. the problem as I recall is that the shaft size of the GDT is smaller than the ODS. I used one years back and had to press a piece of tubing around the shaft to snug it up. If that is cool with you, I could send you one for cost of postage. I'm on the Left Coast so it won't be much.

So, If the ODS shaft is bigger than a GDT then the Split Collets are not interchangeable and are specific to the shock, not the Strut?
Maybe someone can measure the diameter of the shaft on the GDT?
An ODS shaft appears to be 10mm.
