TALAS on CARBON
« on: September 09, 2006, 02:04:16 pm »
Hi all, an update to my 4500 build. I finally got the Fox Talas mounted to the bike. Not been out for a ride yet but I had to share. I had to get custom bushings. Risse Racing made them for me. I can't say enough about how cool those guys are! Great customer service and prices! Call Josh and he will hook you up! They even make custom shocks for your K2. Look at the adapters I made and tell me what you think. Leverage ratio/angles and such. There is a lot of adjustment on both ends of the bike. Up to a half inch in back and 30mm in front. Hope the link works. Anyone else ever try something like this on a carbon frame before. I'll check back in a few days. Bruce ;D ;D

It's all about the ride.

So, if I see right, there is an adjustment screw in the block? That could add lots of variability.

You have me intrigued.

I've never done a Talas, but I have a set of Fox Float RL AVAs on my 5500.

(For those with or trying similar set ups:  I just got the front dialed really nice after some struggling.  I put the rebound to full soft, and I have the AVA on 2, with 45 psi for my 220lbs frame.)
Rich 5500c EC70 Handlebar, EC70 seatpost, SRAM X.0 shifters/R.D., 9.0 casette, X-7 F.D., Magura HS33s, Raceface Next LP w/ti Isis BB, Fulcrum Zeros RB, Fox Float RL AVAs F&R, Rocket Rons 2.25

I did that a few years ago on my carbon - put the main body down tho and made some simple spacers.  (and still run it on my spare - use the 5th on my main ride)

Hi guys. My TALAS has lockout and I figured this was the best way to mount it and still be able to use the lockout. Sure rides nice. Got about 50 or so street miles on it testing the durability of the upper mods. Probably get it into the dirt this week. Bruce
It's all about the ride.
