Bear hungry for Canadian biker

WOW !!!  What a colorful thread this turned in to !!
The day after I last wrote, I was o the trail and had 3 quite large and well fed looking coyotes cross my path about 30 feet in front of me. Good thing I left my mutt at home for this ride. Then 5 minutes later saw a good size buck. It recently rained here, so the critters came down from the upper elevations to check out the greenery....wonder what I'll see next !!!

Here in Bavaria we have actually the first bear for 170 years.
Of course the bear is catching some sheep and things.
So, the farmers are in a uproar and the government just gave the announcement today, that the bear can be hunted.

Poor Bavaria!

It's just one bear for a huge country and they try to kill him.
Damned!

I have managed to windsurf in lots of cool places over the years and have met a few surprises in the water.

Of course, the first time a pod of dolphins swims by with their dorsal fins up, that's a real  [smiley=diaper.gif] kind of experience.

Late one October afternoon (1985) I was windsurfing some tidal rips near Portland, Maine when I had to take a breather. Sitting on the board drifting and worrying about the cold water, setting sun, and the distance to the beach I just about had a heart attack when a large dark head popped up 3 feet away and barked at me! It was a harbor seal wanting to play, but under the circumstances it might as well have been JAWS. I'm pretty sure my drysuit got wet on the inside...

Then there was the time in Guantanamo in '86... I sailed "over the line" and had the commies and the US Navy both coming after me! Made the harbor seal look downright inviting...

Love running across deer and coyotes on the bike. It's the feral hogs that have me worried.

I quite often come across our local police doing the rounds off road (looking for fly tippers)on their mountain bikes, some pretty wretched looking Specialised bikes. they may not be any sort of animal but they make some pretty fierce noises when I rip their legs off on the hills or flats. [smiley=laughing.gif]
We`ve spoken occasionally when I`ve stopped or were passing in opposite directions, and they seem well intrigued with the Proflex.
Other than that, these new fangled European horse flys that seem to bite me all summer is about as exciting as it gets, of course Mrs Tel says if I rode fast enough I would`nt get bitten. [smiley=turtle.gif]

Funny, That I hear so many stories but have yet to see a bear. So much for living in bear country. I've been on te Sunshine Coast (On the Fraser River) for 3 months now.
