help i need a new front fork for a old proflex

my bike is a 98-95 proflex beast with a 4-5" front shock works  great but i crack the fork:o. can i put a 7-8" DC fork on it?  ??? thanks for any help.

A bit too much.
Or way too much!!

The front travel should fit with your rear travel.
So if you got 4 inches on the rear you shouldn't have 8 on the front.
This will be no fun and .... maybe the frame might brake.
A 8 inch fork is very stiff and so all the occouring forces will be given to the frame.
And the angles. They will give you the rest.

If you want 8 inches go and get you a DH bike.
