Risse/crosslink users, why so hard?
« on: May 05, 2006, 03:27:20 am »
Hey you guys that have a Risse Genesis on your crosslinks.

Two observations that I have come to with my Genisis install.

1. I feel like there is more stroke to the fork now. GOOD! [smiley=nod.gif]

2. After trying it and sending it back for a softer revalving, it is better, but still is very slow on damping and rebound. BAD. [smiley=disbelief.gif]

Is this shock normally this harsh? Is there a breakin period that I need to go through? My smartshock is getting smart again.

Before I send it back to Kevin for another round of revalving, I would appreciate your feedback.

Honestly, Terry, I've heard 3x is a charm!

It has been known to be a great alternative to an NR-2, but only if it's valved "right" sorry, but can't help you...just raz you a wee bit!

I believe Risse's do require a break in period
running tight tolerances and a large shaft bearing,
but even so it certainly sounds like its still not
valved or have the correct wt oil or both to operate
to your liking,
keep sending it back until its right,I'm sure it will be
worth it in the end.

Well it was able to ride it this last time. Even with a break in I would prefer it to be faster reacting so I can use higher air pressures.

Funny  thing is I hated the Smartshock that was there because it was too harsh. Then when I sent the genesis back and reinstalled the smartshock. I pounded it hard and blew the seal spewing all the oil. NOW I LIKE IT! [smiley=nod.gif]

So I guess I will send it back again. Kevin had alluded the first time that a circuit may be blocked. But Tom?, the other guy said that it was to spec, but agreed to remove or reshim or whatever.

It can only get better. But I don't know why they valve it like that.
