The ugliest Animal...
« on: April 15, 2006, 07:20:07 am »
Just put some of the ebay bits I got (fork and "made in mexico" swingarm) on my '97 Animal. It turns out to be one of the ugliest I've seen, as I was used to see it with the stock swingarm and Chubby fork.
I believe with the frame painted in a very dark grey or brown colour and the yellow parts of the crosslink painted in black to match the swingarm, it would be a very nice bike.
Nevertheless, it performs very well and the feeling of the Crosslink fork is back since I sold my 757 (sorry guys, I just like these forks).
I just need to get my hands on a X57 frame to paint and put the other Crosslink CS and carbon swingarm I have...
This "ugly" weights 12.7 Kg (28 lbs) as it is
Just have a look and see if I am not right:

I disagree, I think it looks great. I'd leave it like that. Don't forget the yellow on the x-link goes with the yellow in the Proflex decals! I must admit one thing I would change - amber sidewalls!

Besides you should see my 96 Beast with the 'Made in Mexico' swingarm! I've cobbled any old parts I could find together to make something rideable... no photos yet though!

OK Bubb, you are certainly pulling our legs now, are'nt you? :P

THAT IS ONE COOL LOOKING ANIMAL! :o

You know that you have essentially a painted 957 there. And the 97 animal is rare.

That rig is approaching race worthy. My Beast was 30 lbs. stock. [smiley=diaper.gif]

Thank you guys. That should raise my moral about this bike. It didn't quite came as I expected.
I bought another '97 Animal frame on ebay just like the one I have now but with an NR2 instead, with the purpose to give it a new paint job, but I believe the guy is having trouble to ship it, as he is from UK and shipping is expensive (around £100).
This was almost two months ago, so I think the deal will be difficult to complete.
I will continue my search for a "cheap" x57 frame (with an nr4 if it's possible and with no dents on it)...

You can use whatever picture you want. I use a picture of myself and the 5000 in St. George Utah with Zion's National Park in the background...

you already have an x57 frame....the only x57 you will find with a nr4 will be a 957 and they must be polished........period.......ok?

That was my first idea about buying a frame. Polish it until it becomes a 957. But I am trying to make one different, almost all in dark colour. It still would be a proflex...
