Bit late replying - was in China working :-) I'm Ian from Bristol, and have a 955 (from new, about to be singlespeeded and disked for the Bristol 12 solo enduro); a 957 (from new, geared enduro bike about to be run solo in the CLIC 24 event in the mendips) and a 97 animal that has just been resprayed and is about to be built as a big travel (for me) bike! Oh and just did the HONC you mentioned, foolishly on a singlespeed (not the 955), managed about 85km as we took a few shortcuts, got hailed on and hid behind a wall! Great event with every type of bike imaginable!

In Market Harborough, near Leicester
Got a 550 as bought 16 years ago! Just changed tyres and bottom bracket. Been out of saddle a few years but back aboard now and it was the search for new elastomers that bought me here - (sorted now in different thread.)
Also have a Raleigh Team Banana for the road. (Seat like a razor blade)
Will try and get picture once I've read how.

Hi Chaps,
I've just moved back from Switzerland, and am now living in the Surbiton area. Havent been on mine for about 6 months now, but keep threatening to get fit for the summer! Any other riders in the kingston/surbiton area or SW London?
Cheers, Nic.

That's a beautiful bike, but what's with the backwards seatpost? Are you trying to keep the geometry similar to your triathlon bike? If you're as tall as that seatpost height indicates you are, you shouldn't have a problem with reaching the handlebars!
And in keeping with my reputation as the "seat angle police," how can you even ride with your saddle set up as a butt slide like that?! Don't you end up sitting on your top tube everytime you hit a bump?
Or should I assume that since you haven't ridden in a while, you just threw it together like that for the pic?
Six months?! Go ride man! Go ride!
PS
Where in Switzerland were you?

LOL!!! [smiley=laughing.gif]
This is a pic from when I was putting together the bike... note no chain, brakes etc... I'll post a pic of how my baby is now! You're spot on - i'm an ex-time trialer, and loved the high seat with the low bars... Seat angle isnt a prob when you are as heavy as me - my weight lowers the suspension to make the seat angle somewhat more horizontal... The rear sus has been replaced with a meaty sprung Manitou SPV...
I lived in Zurich, and rode with Team Adrenalin, a mad mad mad downhill team. The seat post got cut and massively lowered, and I have since learned to appreciate a differnet riding position. I'm quite tall though 6"2, but this photo is before I got re-educated...
I must say this is by far the most awesome bike I have ever owned, and tomorrow will be the first ride in a long time - thanks for giving me the required kick up the arse!
Cheers, N.

Here's some current pic's as promised...
You see the seat-post is much shorter and the right way round now! The rear suspension has changed to a beefy 350lb sprung Swinger 4-way (which is absolutely awesome for the heavie rider!!!)
Now time for a ride!
Cheers, Nic.

Hi,
I'm callum from Stirling in Scotland - I moved back home to scotland a few years ago because it has the best mountain biking in the world (no bias there then) and the scottish government is pro-mountain bike and has spent millions of pounds building good quality 'hard' trails in the forests here and also changed the access laws so that mtb'ers can ride anywhere we please so long as it is not through someone's garden and stick to the countryside code of conduct.
I've got an 856, a 97 beast and my beloved 01 K2 Razorback. i ride with the Stirling Mountain Bike club and also ride a few evenings after work on the local trails that are accessible from within 10mins riding from the centre of stirling.
If you're even visiting here and want to go for a ride near here then get in touch,
callum
