Hello! I dusted of my 855!
« on: September 06, 2005, 09:12:52 am »
I can't wait to start riding again. It's been awhile (2 yrs). I bought the bike new in 95, when I was 15 years old. Saved on a paper route for 2 years to buy it. Rode it ever day - it has thousands of miles on it.

Well, its been in my closet for awhile. I graduated college, got a job, and then just didn't have time.

I  got out of work early friday and decided to go for a spin. My shocks are FLAT. My elastomers just flatten right out. Also, my rear wheel is WAY out of true, and I need a new chain (mine broke 3 miles from home, i didn't bring my tool kit either).

I just ordered new elastomers from K2 website. Can't wait to install them.

Anyways, just wanted to introduce myself and say "HI" from North Attleboro, MA. Look forward to talking with you guys about my upcoming experiences again!

Welcome back!

As you get into fixes & upgrades, you'll love the prices at www.jensonusa.com

They buy "outdated" bikes and part them out at decent prices.

For example, you could get a very nice wheelset for $70 and some nice riser handlebars for $15.

Hope you've got a good job... this hobby can clean you out! [smiley=nod.gif]

BTW - Great story.

North Attleboro, that's pretty near the brithplace of Pro-Flex bikes!  I've been doing some work around Woonsocket, RI and have been meaning to find a local place to ride.

Presumably the design of my 856 would be ideally suited to the local trails?
