new fork for Blue Crush
« on: April 07, 2003, 05:26:21 am »
well, just wanted to let you guys know that my Fox Talas R finally arrived today.
what an awesome piece of kit!!
not only is it built awesomely, but it is the correct color to go with my bike, and the blue in the stickers is even almost exactly the right blue!!
I will post pix when I get it mounted and will give ride impressions next week when I am on vacation and can ride it for several days.
only thing is, vacation is now a day shorter as we had today off for snow. I am upset because we could have gotten the school day in before it really started to stick and would have had a day longer vacation.
oh well.

Dennis,

Is the Fox black on the lowers with blue decals or silver lowers also, can you put it on a scale?  What's the axle to lower headset race distance and do you have a baseline of Crosslink experience for a comparison too?  Wow-what an interrogatory mood I'm in.... :)

Thanks,
Scott

Scott,
no the Fox I have is gray, the decals (stickers, really) are black with blue lettering.
I forgot to put it on a scale before I gave it to mechanic for installation. however, I am going to the shop to deliver parts for my road bike (due in tomorrow), so if he hasn't installed it yet, I will get him to put it on a scale.
I have two years crosslink exp. on my hardtail , so can compare it to that. no real Oz xlink exp. however.
just a few miles.

ok Scott (and anyone else who is interested):
just weighed Fox Talas R fork and obtained
a value of 4 lbs. with uncut steerer tube. I have seen these listed as being 3.2 lbs. so that is BS.

anyway, the stanchions are HUGE and the reports about how well they steer must be true. I will probably be able to test the bike and fork next wednesday or thursday, and will write a report.

yes, I will probably write alot about the fork. actually, by next wednesday (start of my vacation) I should have the fork installed on my Oz, and my new Calfee should be done (frame due in thursday). reports due on both.
