« on: November 25, 2004, 06:56:15 pm »
Is there any way to put in a more modernt shock in place of the old noleen with the long rod?  Does anybody know the shock travel K2 used on this?

A few posts ago there was talk and pictures of custom adapters for the strut that will allow standard shocks to be mounted. Quite ingeniuous and practical.

Do a search for adapters.

Thanks.  I just found out about this forum and I am really impressed with the serious messing around with bikes that is going on here.
I found one shock adapter posted back around Nov 4, do you remember any others?
The DIY floating brake adapter looked really cool too.

::)check out Risse's website. they are the only other makers of a beast shock. you can check with them but i think it has a little more travel than the stock noleen. someone else made a rod-adapted fox unit.
but i don't remember who.

Check out junkster's gallery. He has done some neat mods including the shock adapter.

Hi guys,
wow - a recommendation to view my handywork - I am in shock! (No pun intended!)  [smiley=nod.gif]

Latest mod - a much lighter and stronger alloy Girvin crosslink elite front mod for my Magura 8" rotor postmount hydro discbrake, part inspired by OP's fabricated crosslink adapter in the 'how tos' section:

Junkster you brilliant madman!

You just solved my dilema. The illustration you did really was good and turned on a lite bulb.

I bought the large Evo frame with risse shock from sdmike. As far as the risse shock, I am really a stable platform shock kind of guy but most of the new shocks are too short. So an adaptation of your strut mod will work for standard shocks as well. By rotating one or the other of the shock end I could make an extender for that end to lenghten any size shock. This will work for any shock any time.

The work you have been doing is really inspiring. My evo project is off to a good start.

Thanks, Terry
