e-discount is still posting x-links
« on: October 24, 2004, 03:33:04 am »
How much stock did K2 sell to them. He posted 10 yesterday, he posted 10 october 21st and some more on the 19. And there are many more I haven't counted.
There are enough for everyone. e-discount would be crazy not to sell internationaly.

They probably have a bunch. I for one wanted to know how many Oz frames were sold to eDiscount by k2.

If you need one and they don't ship north drop me a PM. Simon's son rides a Mega that I facilitated.

Hi Kiwi,
I sent ediscountcycles an email asking if he would consider shipping to australia & I got a negative reply from someone called joan.  I didn't mention paypal or anything though.
Have you purchased items off him before?
Cheers,
Luke

Hi All,
Also see my previous reply on "Noleen / Girvin New"

I've bought one, at auction, and paid less than the $249.99 that they are selling them in the shopfront for.
I rang them (001 952-657-1191 from the UK) and spoke to some bloke, can't remember his name, but he was very helpful.
I was fishing for how many they had for sale and he was a bit cagey, but finally said they had something like 50 of each Crosslink! (less of the Chubbies etc)
I also asked if the ULM is OE or AM but he didn't know but apparantly the stock was held by K2 as warranty replacments and now that has has expired, the accountants have written off the lot as "worthless" and so eDiscountBike got them!
Uwe Maaß posted a handy link to search for them and I've mod'd it to only show carbons
http://search.ebay.com/noleen-carbon_W0QQsokeywordredirectZ1QQfromZR8

As I said before, the $45 shipping is a bit steep, but it should arrive in days not weeks.

I reckon he's posting about one Normal and one Long Carbon each day on 1 day auctions, also some "Buy It Now" 's for $249.99 but that's the same as the store front.

We''l have to get some definitive measurements together on the site for the variations in Crosslink sizes, that'll help people?

Anyway, after chasing some Carbons for a few months now from BiggerG (and getting little response) I now have a brand new Pair, so excellent result!

Bought a razorback frame from E-discount earlier this year. they shipped to new Zealand no problems, so Australia should be ok. Watch the shipping cost though!!

Yep, bought a Normal with a Smartshock NR-5.
The description is slightly misleading in that they say
"Comes with K2 Smart Shock, and a Noleen NR-2 Coil over Shock."
I thought - "Hey a NR-5 and a spare NR-2 if that gives up the ghost!"
So I rang them:-  Their understanding is a bit skewed in that they call the Smartshock the electronics package and the rest of it the NR-2!
but the guy I spoke to said:-"no, it's just a Smartshock but if the elctronics fail then it just reverts to a NR-2" which I already knew......

Here's one:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=36135&item=7110099687&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW
Looks like the starting price is starting to creep up, that's more than I paid for one!

Incidentally, I'm still trying to get a NR-5 that's accidentally lost it's nitrogen re-pressurised, anyone know how I can get this done without a full service?

Hi Colin,

I'm not sure where you could get that shock repressurised without a service but if you're in a DIY mood, check this out.

You'd need a nitrogen cylinder as well though, I've seen a similar unit used on other shocks, the process is pretty simple you just need the right gear.
Cheers,
Luke

PS- still no reply from ediscount on shipping costs to australia

Hi loaded. I've seen this link before. Do you know if it was made specifically to fill the nitrogen charges on the nr-1,2,and 5's.

Hi Ionit,
I'm not sure if this item is specific to the NR1's,2's & 5's.  I just took a look at the proflex label on the box in the picture.  Your best bet would be to ask the seller if it could be used to fill your shock, or to ask K2.  But remember you'll need a nitrogen tank as well.

Has anyone else on here seen these in action?  I've seen a similar item used to recharge an older fox (i think) shock.  But then again I'm not to experienced with servicing shocks.
Cheers [smiley=beer.gif]

Update on eDiscount's shipping:

After a couple of emails and a few days Joan from ediscount finally realised i lived somewhere out of the US & offered to ship the forks for US$45. A little on the steep side but it's still cheaper than buying locally.

All up that's a new pair of chubbies on my 4000 for 169AUD!
Cheers to ebay  ;D [smiley=beer.gif]

Received my Brand New Smart Carbon X-Links yesterday!
And they certainly are, in an original K2 box, with manual, spare seals, and a 200lb spring (perfect for me) and still factory wrapped in foam!
I'm delighted!
The only down side is that eDiscountBike ripped me off even more than I expected on the shipping.
They charged me $45 when the actual postage was $18.95 !!! That's a sweet 137% profit for taking them down the Post Office! I wish I could get away with that!
Anyway, Total cost for me including Tax (£18.62) was £143.38  so I'm pretty pleased!
If anyone's interested, for the Archive, I could perhaps scan the manual if one hasn't been done already?
It's got some intresting comments in it like
"The K2 Bike 2000 and 3000 use forks with slightly different dimensions"......

thata because they do!I beleive that te xlinks on the 1000,2000,and 3000 are actually 97 girvin crosslinks which have a 152 critical measurement as opposed to the 162 of the 98 noleen. The etra 10 mm in lenght was required to fit the smartshock.I beleive the noleen is 10mm longer between top and bottom links than the girvin
in the "How To" section there is a crosslink manual
