Front Shock
« on: September 14, 2004, 01:18:24 am »
Hey all,

I've got a 1999 4000 and I blew my front smart shock in Oct '03.  Haven't been able to ride since Nov '03  >:(.  It still rides but it shifted and the computer got knocked off.  Most likely poor maintenance and never greasing it up.  Bought lube but never used it.  Won't let that happen again. [smiley=furious.gif]

Currently I'm stuck in Iraq  [smiley=bomb.gif], but hope to back in the states in November for leave ;D.  So now I need to order a new front fork for my ride.  I only need it for XC but I plan to get disc brakes when I'm done with this tour.  Can I buy a front shock that will allow me to convert later?  Or am I going to have to get the discs now?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Nearly every fork available now comes with a disc mount [smiley=nod.gif],a few now offer the option of being disc only, just make sure any fork you purchase has both disc and canti mounts then you can upgrade to disc's whenever your ready.
