756 front shock replacement
« on: August 02, 2004, 01:37:14 pm »
Hey all,

I have a 756 proflex, need to replace the front elastmers. Would like to replace with coil spring.

What are my options? I know the bike is old but it has been good to me. I am having trouble finding a solution.

Thanks.

That bike is a wonderful single track eater. If I were you, I would not hesitate to install a 80mm telescopic fork such as a Marzocchi. The Vector is nice, but I'm sure you find that a "normal" fork will keep you happy with your bike. If you are sure that you can't do without a linkage fork, try to find a crosslink on ebay or an "ODS" with a coil spring. The latter two will be available, but you may have to wait until the right one comes along. Telescopic forks are a dime a dozen.
Good luck, Dan

I am with Dan.I replaced my vector with a carbon crosslink of a 957.They will keep it in the family!.A 3 or 4 travel fork will be best, and of course a later model fork will allow upgrading to a disc very simple.Because you have a mixture of 1 and 1 and 1/8 headset bits you will have to invest in a new stem and headset, even to upgrade to a crosslink
