Rear susp. change. I think I need a stiffer rear spring so not much seat time with it yet.

Schwwing!! I have a new object d' lust!
Thanks, Simon. That Faux link set-up is coool.
This looks and sounds like the bike Nora Rosche rode in the thread I started a while ago. Hers would have been a smaller size but looks exactly right. Even down to the NR1 with TI spring. Wonder how many of these were made?
, the only question I have is do I ever ride it the way it should be ridden or do I just stand back in awe of the bike before me.
My 1996 856
(http://img440.imageshack.us/img440/668/556e1pu9.jpg)
Got it off ebay 375.00
Its believed to be all original, even the tires, and its like new - only one scratch under the top-tube you cant even see. Whoever the previous owner was hardly rode it and must have kept garaged. I've been told in this forum this might be a somewhat rare or special Proflex as of this bike wasnt originally spec'ed with an ODS and GDT shocks.
(someone should skicky this so we have an offical picture thread)
Ok so it all started the 1st of november 2006 the very day I found the forum and joined. Its been two years of sourcing the best parts from allover the world ebay head aches and frustrations and I finally think I can rest knowing that my bike is complete the final pieces fitted on the 10th november 2008 so 2 years and 9 days later its done, the only question I have is do I ever ride it the way it should be ridden or do I just stand back in awe of the bike before me.
Well I have previously posted an image before but hopfully tommorow I'll have the completed bike images posted :)
These bikes really need to be reproduced!!!! as does the crosslink fork

So finally here is my finished pride and joy, the last parts added where the FSA carbon chain set and the magura brake setup, hope you all like as I do.
how does the smartshock perform?Well the thing lights up,but never noticed any difference in the settings. Not familiar with it really, what's it supposed to do?
;D
or
It's a heap of crap, I'll take it off yer hands for £50.................. :P
heres my new roadie, buiilt it to reduce the stress of being unemployed.
with a box full of bits and an aversion to spendiing money its cost me £130 and i love it!!!
looks really nice cornholio.
full spec of my `roadie` is as follows, frame btwin (decathlon) cross frame, unknown 700c alloy forks, full sram x-7 gears, truvativ stylo gxp chainset with 48-36-22 rings, ritchie pro bars, ritchie pro grips, token carbon bar ends, ibis stem(from a mojo), fsa seatpost, deore vee rear brake, avid bb5 front 160mm disc, intake race seat, avid speed dial levers and 700c mavic cxp22 rims on coda expert disc hubs, deore cassette, with vittoria rubinho 25mm tyres. im thinking of putting a vee up front as the disc with skinnies on is lethal in the wet!
That looks great. I have never seen one in white.
Just finished this, I know it's not proflex, but it's still fun.???
this better? ;)Ohhhh, that is nice! ;)

I am looking to sell my 1996 Proflex 856 I do not know how much I should ask it's been hanging in the basement for 10 years I only have about 200 miles on it does not have orginal seat or peddels but eveything else is orginal and all in working condition. with owners manual. You may want to posti in the Post BUY/Sell/Wanted thread at the top of the Tech Forum sticky page. A photo and location would be highly recommended. Is it grey, and what size is it?
Thanks for the help
I like the Debian decal ;) you won't see that on a bike that often!!
looks in good clean condition :)Yeah, way too clean! :D
My 2000 K2 Evo 4.0 (custom). I just finished the buildup. I bought the frame off Ebay a few weeks ago. I chose the color, did all the paint work & assembled & tuned the entire bike myself. Never did anything like this before but it came out near perfect!
And where it gets ridden!Desert? Where about?

Hey SB,
That is looking nice. The polished bit compliment the white. :o :o
Have a try at:Neat, those are the gold ones.

Hi all. I'm Audun, living in Norway. New to this forum. Was pleased to see there's still a bunch more riders than me that still ride these old beauties ^_^Welcome TP,
Sooo, just thought I'd add my baby here aswell, a slightly modified '97 Beast :D PS: I'm in need of a new rear shock, preferrably NR-4 or if anyone know if the Fusion-X shocks are available for the x57 frame?
took the stealth bike out for a spin today..... 8)
Nice!
Did you drill out the cable stops? (To allow through cable routing)
Col.
I'd say it's a Small 656.
I'd suggest that the decals are not original (as fitted) should be "PRO~FLEX" on the downtube and "656" on the top tube.
i.e. pre K2 days or at least before they were badging them.
I don't believe that "Animal" or "Beast" were ever used for this model.
If the rear shock works OK, then I expect it'll make a nice "little" bike!
Good Luck
Col.
I would put it all the way back to a 655 with the chromoly swing arm and no down tube gusset. Just guessing. I believe that bike came with elastomers in the back too.
The Attack/Reptile frame drawing looks 99% the same except the frame on my proflex is different where the rear shock mounts to the seat tube. On my frame its a triangular piece thats welded to the frame as opposed to the round stem that protrudes on the Attack
It has a frame size sticker on it which states it's a 20"/50.8cmBy the looks, I would say it is a Waybig. I think a Large would be classified as 18".
Would this be a L or XL/way-big?
it's a Way Big - you can tell beause the seatpost mast is extra long.Excellent Ed!
Well w98seeng, it sounds like you have caught the sickness.
Hey Dave nice ride like the front shocks. Did you swap out your BB with external bearings? Also do you know what the inside mesurements are on the 819 mavics. The new rear shock was a great bump up, and the fox is the better of the two I belive it has the full lock out feature. The rock shock Im using only has a three position gate. Not quite a lock out but very close. The only problem with the fox is trying to find one at a good price.I just ordered a 2011 fox rp23 new on ebay for 188 bucks. I should have it next week, then ill have to find the correct mounting hardware. Can't wait. My original noleen has some sticheon and the spring is too weak for my 6' , 230 pounds. Looking forward to the lockout feature on the climbs.
Dan
ayye, methinks we have yet another addict..
looking good
Looks spectacular, so much better with the XT cranks2003 dirt jumper 1 air preload coils in oil with adjustable rebound and compression. With 20mm QR axle. Very nice fork off ebay in mint condition for 130 bucks shipped. I am selling the k2 frame now on ebay, got a brand new frame jamis Dakar xam 2 and put my wheels and fork and XT drivetrain and Hayes stroker aces on it. It came with a fox dhx air 5.0 rear shock and integrated headset. I baught a Thomson seatpost and stem and a EASTON haven carbon handlebar for it. That fork is much more at home with the new frame. The bike is SICK. Much more capable for my large build. The k2 had too much flex for my liking.
Are the bombers air shocks?
Welcome lumpydog.
Your 857 is a great bike.
Terry
Thanks Terry- sure I'm going to learn a lot here :D

Hi there
Yes I have some pictures of the bike on photobucket
Just look under
petes97857
I just can't get any pics to stick on my postings
Not to feel out done by your fine creation, heres my latest.
Ive done a dry build just to see how it will look and Im pretty happy with it!
The forks are Fox Talas and are set at 130mm in this photo but adjust down to 90mm. The rear shock is the Fox RP23 I bought recently. Ive fitted a Hammerhead and Hope disc to the rear now instead of the HS33 in the picture. Ive left the steerer uncut at the moment untill I ride it and find a riding position that suits.
I just need a bit of time off building a house extension to finish it.
Chris

Looks too clean, but it does appear that you have street tires on it so that may explain it. Sweet ride from an OZ owner. Thanks man, would love to see your OZ!
Okay here it is. My pride and joy. I had the wheelset built on Mavic 517 rims by local wheelbuilder Harry Rowlands. XT shifters, LX front, XT rear, original girvin spuds, WTB Speed V saddle (just the best saddle ever) and original Crud-Catcher (I also have an original Crudguard). I sent the shocks to CVI in the UK for servicing a few years ago. They not only serviced them but called me to ask me my weight and what kind of riding I did so that they could set them up properly for me. Needless to say when they came back they felt dialled-in straight away and I haven't touched them since. I love this bike. :)
blah....just saw a green disco monkey frame for low cash in real nice condition found at craigslist this morning, posted the link in our classies... I already have cash put aside for another proflex found there which I'll be seeing tomorrow... I already have too many projects to work on lolz...
Still feeling the love. But is your 855 feeling the love? It looks awfully cold, wet and forlorn waaay down there all by itself... ;D
it's happy - it's being used! Better than the cold damp cellar at home! ;DAh, that's good! I guess the cellar is a poorer option... no thoroughbred wants to live in the barn!
that looks pretty stock!
Nothing quick service would put right. You have a very nice pair of Proflexs there!
Chris
Always thought about it but not seen one before. It's a good idea to stop the dreaded rope tube dent loads of Proflexs suffer from.
Chris
Hi these are my bikes a k2 flyin monkey and a k2 evo 4 , the evo 4 is the one with the mag wheels, (http://i464.photobucket.com/albums/rr7/carol_davegoodwin/20151009_144314_zpsuqg01mz0.jpg)(http://i464.photobucket.com/albums/rr7/carol_davegoodwin/20151009_145206_zpsdlll3f5z.jpg)
