nice new forum - i'm impressed!
ok, as a proud owner of a 957 with an original nr4 [still in perfect order] i was just wondering what us X57 owners' options were when it comes to replacement? i gather the piggy-back Noleens are no longer available, and there are no aftermaket shocks that will fit[?] so, has anyone retro-fitted anything to their rigs without too much hassle?
i have no desire to part with my 957, and i want to be prepared when the time comes...

I'm not 100 precent sure, but I believe a Risse aftermarket will fit. See attached link.

yep - yr dead right, they do. but i reckon i'd prefer to mod something rather than put one of those on

i've got 100mm of travel up front, don't really want 25mm less in the back...

You can also get a Stratos Helix to fit onto a x57 frame no problem. A sweet deal was just had on Ebay a week ago.

First of all, sorry about my english. I'm not very proud of it (I'm from Barcelona - Spain).

I've already had the problem. My Noleen rear shox has died. I contacted a person here in Spain that manufactured bikes a long time ago and actually does special works for mtb, bikes, cars ,ships,etc... he manufactured specially for me an adaptor to fit a normal FOX Vanilla. And it works very well.

Since I don't know how to insert an image, I can send an emil message with an attactment consisting on an photograph.

I still think the NR-4 shock is truley execellent (if they didn't break). HOWEVER, there are Noleen service agents all over the world who will take your shock apart and upgrade the internals and then reset the shock to your criteria.

I can't rememeber the north american guy who does this but the UK and European contact is Dave at CVI Ltd in Yorkshire, England. He is contactible through his website at http://www.cvi.co.uk All RDI's shocks go through him and we must have sent about 100 customers in his direction. jolly good service.

so - don't forget you can fix up the NR-4 rather than buying a brand new shock.

indeed. i even have a friend in a local motor bike shop [here in New Zealand] who can service them, and this is in a 'small' town, so there you have it.
just for the record, my orginal NR4 is still in great condition [part of my 'new' 97 957] and it has never been serviced.
i was just interested in other options 'in case' something goes terribly wrong...

oh, and yeah - i like Kiwi would be very interested in seeing the adaptor Carlos!

Well, since the adaptor is now fixed to the shox with epoxy, I'm drawing an schema to ilustrate how is it manufactured. I thought i was going to need 1 hour but, with my poor habilities, it will take more time. but I promise to post this draw in a couple of days.

I agree with the idea of keeping the original Noleen shox if it works. But it's also great to know that you can fit a more sofisticated shox with some regulations. I have seen the adaptor I propose with an air Rock Shox with positive and negative chamber regulation and blocking.
