I got a Proflex 656 back in 97.  Had ridden BMX for a while but I wanted to move up to a mountain bike, and I found this for a great deal... was hard to resist this dual-shock frame, it was almost as light as the hardtails in that price range.

I didn't ride it too much, unfortunately, and recently the bike was thrown away.  Elastomers had melted and I wasn't sure if I could get more so I didn't really care.  Now I look online and find replacements, so I'm bummed out... trying to get another Proflex on Ebay.  If I can't find one, I'll have to go with a hardtail I guess.  The ride was really nice, even on the mid-range 656, the fork especially, it was very stiff.  And these bikes have a unique, awesome look.

Well, I ended up getting one off of Ebay.  Couple of quick questions, seller had it listed as an 856 but I thought the Proflex line that year was all elastomer shocks?  This one has springs.  It looks to be in excellent shape, hopefully won't have to spend too much more to get it ready to ride.  Some pics from auction:

I can anticipate having to get new springs, because I'm over 200 pounds now  ;D  Also, that stem is too short for me, going to need replaced.

Wow, that is nice.

The GDT shock is a good shock. They were sold as an upgrade to the ODS. I bought one at discount for my Beast when the noleen died, and loved it.

Good show,

Hi guys, I guess alot of you wont know of me but some like Kiwi and Simon will.
I have been offline for ages now.
I used to post back about 5 years ago.
Working mainly in the composite field and having made my own OZM from copying the K2 design.
I am now looking to buy a K2 team or sl with a fox rear shock.
Frame only or maybe complete.
I hope all of you are well and keeping the faith.

I cant remember Kiwi, but hey you have my first name  :)
I did alot of posting about vacum bagging and and making carbon parts back in 2002/2004.
(maybe K2ozm)
Had a bad stack on my animal at night on a downhill section I was riding on Dartmoor with a couple of mates.
The helmet was smashed and I lost my memory.
Bits come are coming back now.
And it was only that the little lady said whats that ugly looking thing in the stable, that I stopped and stared at it.
It is the carbon frame and swinger.
I would like to build it up again as it was a spanking bike.
Had a piccy on here but I remember the site was hacked and pics and stuff were stolen.
Do you have any old posts Kiwi ?
I looked in the files section.

Im sure Ive seen a picture of your bike in the last couple of months. Its still on the site somewhere, I think in an old post. Its finished in a Kevlar brown colour with a prominent weave patern. Very very nice. Good to hear youre making a full recovery.

Hi guys,
Thank you Kiwi that would be great.

I started riding on Scott then whilst speaking to a shop owner called John Benny who owns Alltrax cycles just outside Plymouth Devon Uk, he showed me all the K2's in the shop !, Well that was when I was hooked on a Ozm carbon frame.

Shortly later whilst watching ebay one came up for sale for about £600 frame only.
I duely drove to Yorkshire and bought it from him.
I rode it in the Newnham 90 on a couple of races and on the Exmoor explorer ride/race as well.
Then I found this site through a friend and got to know you guys.
Even managed to ride once with Simon, is he still riding ?
And because of my work with composites I became very interested in making my own Ozm without the seams in the frame.

Yesterday I received some goodies from East coast composite supplies.
Umm gong to get my hands dirty today.  ;)

Did any of you receive my carbon disc brake brackets ?
Did they work for you.
I still use mine.
