Honestly, it looks dangerous.
Hoch eyes are on the same axis, so the shock has the tendenct to rotate. That makes the adapter more prone to failure.

Whoa! Good catch, whisper.

The seat stay pivots (at the swingarm), and top & bottom shock pivots all hinge on parallel axes?

What will keep the suspension from folding like a lawnchair?  :o

The adapter must be a tight fit for the shock (it can seat on the flat end of the shaft). Together it a high torque, it can work. I wouldn't trust it, though.

It looks to my (very untrained) eyes that the adaptor isn't an open U type design but is solid across the top face whcih is what prevents it folding in half (ouch!), but i agree with Shovelons view "rotate it 90 Degrees" for safety. But still looks like it would be a good buy for someone to build into a decent bike.

Yeah, the guy should just rotate it 90 degrees.

yes - that is what should be done - this model can do that; in fact there is shock adapter out there that is made from steel plate, U-shape so will allow side to side movement but is fitted so the lower bolt axis is 90 to the top (as per above suggestion).
