What climbs like a pro-flex?
« on: February 14, 2003, 03:00:07 am »
With all the new bikes on the market and suspension technology advancing so quickly I have been ridding a few different bikes as of late and out of my close group of ridding friends all on many different brands and full suspension to HT. None of these XC bikes climb as strong as my Pro-Flex 865. Yes some are more plush on the down hills but in XC dont they make a bike that climbs like a goat? Any opinions?
Thanks!  :)  :-/

Have you tried a Razorback? I haven't, but I've heard they climb really well... Callum?

My other bike is a four bar with horst link.3.25" travel, it certainly climbs better than my evo 4, 4.75" travel.
I think the shorter swingarm of the 856 (as compared to the evo) may make it a better climber than the evo. I will try my friend's cannondale to see how it compares to the four bar.  The evo is much better than the four bar coming down and in bumpy fire roads

Pedro,
What's the EVO like when climbing where traction is hard to find-rough loose stuff vs. your other bike?

evo? (or disco monkey?) they are not good climbers, my proflex 3000 was exelent for it, but who wants to JUST climb?

Climbing with my evo 4 I need to maintain more momentum to get over obstacles. With the four bar(horst link) I can pedal smoother and need less bursts of energy to get over stuff. Climbing, the four bar feels to be tracking better the ground.        So I guess that means the four bar has better climbing traction.

yes a short-travel FSR rear end will hug the ground better...

and have less affect on the chain line...
if i cry a tear everyday till A-line re-opens i'll have a lake in my house...8-(
