I sent both my shocks for rebuild only to be told the shafts are pitted and need replacing, so knackered shafts and internals equals new shocks required.

So what I'm after is Noleen shocks for front and rear, preferebly piggy backs, the rear sits into a cone on the seat stays so the rear shock must have the conical end for this.

I've looked into new options but it's going to be £300+, I'd have to import risse shocks from the US which is expensive and they don't seem to have as much stroke as the Noleens which means less wheel travel.

The new XP8 adaptor won't work for me due to the different shock location in my small frame.

Cash waiting, this is all I need to finish the project!!!!!!

Thanks Alex

Hi people,

The time has come to part with the dearly beloved (not the wife, although that's an idea). My 856 World Cup Design is up for sale and open to sensible offers. Can't remember what size it is, however I'm 6ft and it suits me fine. Some mods but pretty much standard. Unfortunately I can't figure out how to post images on here but will send photos via email if required. Feel free to contact me if you are interested and have any questions.

Due to an injury I am no longer working, so I have to sell my '98 K2 Animal.
It's almost complete with some sweet components.
It needs the front derailleur put on, the chain reattached, new cables, pedals, a seat and grips.

1998 K2 Animal (17" I think)
1998 Manitou X-Vert Dual Crown fork 1 1/8" 4" travel
K2 Smart Shock 5" travel
XTR 8 speed rear derailleur (works great but the paint has chipped off)
XTR polished crankset 44/29/22 (the paint was rubbed off so I polished them, looks great)
XTR 8 speed dual Rapidfire shifters
XTR rear V-brakes
XT front derailleur
SRAM 9 speed cassette (take off the sprocket you don't want)
SRAM chain
Competition chainrings
Carbon fiber seat post
Cheap formula rear hub
cheapie Shimano disc front hub.

I'd like to get $500, Will ship anywhere in North America, will sell the XTR components separately for $225
Ian

Hey group, My computer is down and havent kept up on things. I'm now the proud owner of a "96" 756. Bought it from a friend I used to ride with. I was with him when originaly purchased the frame and forks. He did a #1 job on the rebuild. He dident use the girvins but through them in on the deal all for a C note ($100 US) I'm so stoked!!! Rode it a few times but it needs a bushing kit. Also I have a line on a all origanal 856 from a guy I met at the swap meet. he said hes in no hurry to sell, and like it to go to someone who can appreciate what it is. Ramen diet or new bike, Ramen diet or new bike, Ramen diet or new bike????? LOL When my PC is up I'll post some pics.

Also, Jimbob Re: decals try the Grafics shak in the U.K. I know they make a full decal set for a 856 and it has the pro active in the set. I purchased a few pro flex related decals from them and you can find them on ebay search pro flex in bicycles and they will pop up

Think I'll go for a ride today

Saw a Craigslist ad last week for a frame and some parts then it disappeared and reappeared.  Called and finally located the guy in Seattle.  Medium size frame in cobalt blue, no swingarm (he sold that last week), most of a vector fork, a strut and split collar, a handful of proflex bolts and two ods shocks for twenty bucks.  No obvious faults apparent but haven't cleaned it all up yet.

EDIT

Whoops!  It's purple!

Sorry, been away for a bit but have been back scanning the site once again.

I'm thinking about selling my Brand New, Never Used, 856 World Cup and I need some help.  This bike has never seen the pavement or dirt.  It is 90% original.  The original tires still have the nubbers on them.  The only thing I swapped out were the Gripshifters and bar-ends and replaced them with XTR shifter/brake combos.  The bike has a mix of XTR and XT. Gore Cables, all original parts.  Top of the line bike.  I think I have a number in mind of what I would like to get for this one of a kind bike, but I wanted to check in with the experts here and see what they think.  The bike has a few small surface scratches from being in storage for the past 15 years.  This bike has always been stored in my house, never outside in a shed or garage.  Oh yea, it has an integrated Shimano Flight Deck Computer also

The pics can be viewed on my Pinkbike page:

http://antmav.pinkbike.com/album/Proflex/

The two 854's aren't for sale, I still ride those two bikes weekly.

Thanks for the assistance.

Amazing!!!

Another nice Proflex in small.

I am thinking under the right circumstances it could fetch $500. I have seen a few 957s in small go for $500.

Aha! That answers one question I have thought of in idle moments............

Q. Does a Girvin Rockring fit over the big ring or instead of it......?

I just picked up a 656 WC (Small or Way small I think).  I have a melted yellow mess on my hands.  Think I'm going to the MDU replacement route vs. trying to find an air/oil rear shock (not even sure there is one available for this model, is there one available, Risse maybe????).

The question is:  Was there a single or was there a double stack on the 656 WC small frame?

Thinking about using Suspensionforkparts.com elastomers.......any thougths?  Good/Bad?

Thanks in advance.

Your frame will be a small as they didnt make a way small. It has a double stack just like the other sizes. Noleenj6 make straight swap quality shocks for the '56 models as well as Risse. Both will out perform MDU by far.
