Main carbon frame/triangle in Way Big?
« Reply #421 on: December 09, 2008, 07:10:02 am »
Hello all,
I'm entertaining the idea of switching my 4000 frame to the carbon/OZ style...just wondering if anyone out there has one available in the Way Big size...I already have the swingarm and other goodies, but might consider paying for those as well if someone doesn't want to break up a set.
Thanks in advance!

Does that mean you are in the "Tallboy League" :D

To my knowledge K2 never make the Carbon frame in a Waybig, only med and large.

Hey!
Well, I'm 5' 10" but the way big frame size seems to fit me well...with large frames I have to raise the seat way high.

Just a follow up to Shovelon's revelation re: OZ frames...so if  I have a Way Big 4000, which has a head tube (not steerer) of about 6 1/4", then going to a large OZ frame would likely cause me to have to use a ton of spacers on the steerer once I install my Way Big fork, right? Any idea of the headtube length on the large OZ frame?

Yep deffo only a Medium and a Large in Carbon Frames.
PART#           DESCRIPTION
16232-169M   99 FRONT TRIANGLE, OZ M MEDIUM
16232-189M   99 FRONT TRIANGLE, OZ M LARGE

different part numbers for OzX, 4500 & 5500 (just for the graphics) but still just Medium and Large

Headtube length is 123mm (4.84") on both Medium and Large

Medium and Large carbon frames are only slightly different in one respect, 25mm longer (virtual) top tube length (562mm to 587mm / 22.13" to 23.11") which results in a  25mm longer wheelbase.

In my opinion, having owned one and ridden it for close to two years now, this is one of the best forks you could buy. Plush, smooth and stiff. The only real issue is the shock is prone to leaking (but I understand that Shockspital can fix that) and spares are somewhat hard to locate.

The asking price is not bad either although I did get mine plus a spare shock for less.

Hi Doug, They only made the Carbon frames in Medium and Large sizes. And of these the Medium seems more common. I bought mine as a Large but after measuring it,it tuned out to be a Medium. They have a tall stand over height which I think confuses people.

Thanks for all the info, everyone! Based on what I heard I'm going to bail on my idea to find a carbon frame to replace my Way Big 4000 frame. I can be happy with the old red beast :-)

LTK (Long Travel Kit) Available for 855 955 856
« Reply #431 on: December 15, 2008, 12:21:15 pm »
Hi there,

I have a LTK (Long Travel Kit) available for 855 955 856.  It has not been used much and is in excellent condition.  It is a bullet proof design so there are not really any wearable parts on it.

I would like $150 USD for it, but no reasonable offer will be refused.   :)

Thanks!
Trevor
