XP-X on ebay UK inc vectors and maguras

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Pro-flex-classic-frame-xp-x-girvin-forks-rear-shock_W0QQitemZ320321530480QQihZ011QQcategoryZ22679QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

winning bid was £34.00

WOW, isnt that like 50-60$ american?

Hmmmm I think maybee not, I was in touch with the seller yesterday, he had an unoffical bid of £70 and wanted to know if I would better it,

"The seller ended this listing early to sell to the high bidder(s) at current bid price.".......    Yeh right!

If he did sell it for £34 then more fool him, I was biding my time with a late bid, as it'd be worth more than that for spares for my XP-X.

I think it's called "evading eBay fees"........................

Anyway, hopefully whoever ended up with it appreciates it and resuscitates it!

Oh yeah, I remember that guy. Built a bike on donated parts. Now he scores this.

Looks like he caught the addiction. 8)

Hopefully this is the correct forum to ask this question...  The seller is the oriignal owner of this ProFlex 5000 and he is offerring the bike to me but is not sure on what it should go for nowadays.  He rarely rides it anymore and except for some scuff marks on the RD and some rubbing on the frame from the cable housing it's in pretty good shape, imo.  After seeing the details what would be a reasonable price to ask for the bike?

Details:
1998 ProFlex 5000, Yellow in color, original owner, original manuals
Carbon swing arm
Carbon Easton Monkey Lite riser bar
Easton CT2 carbon seat post
Hayes front hydraulic disc brake
Shimano Deore XT shifters
XTR derailleurs (older model)
Chris King rear hub laced to Sun Rims; Front Deore XT hub laced to Sun Rims
Brand new WTB Velociraptor tires (installed after pic was taken)
Rock Shox Judy XC front shock
Race Face crank
Smart Shock (rear) still operable

Thanks for your help!

Here's my periodic posting requesting carbon legs for the Crosslink Elite on my K2 4000 :-) If you have a set you don't mind selling or trading for the alloy legs I have, drop me a PM. Thanks!

Hey, all...this is the set I was trying to find when I was looking for my brakes...I ended up getting the standard black ones. These are sweet...and at a great price!

$600 would be my guess. I say that because of the xtr hardware, carbon bars and post, and King rear hub. Without those upgrades I would put it at $500.

Either way it is a great bike.

The 5000
« Reply #415 on: December 04, 2008, 01:14:32 pm »
Yeah, it's definitely decent looking...I think it really comes down to your taste.

I bought my stock 4000 for $450 on eBay. When purchased it had Crosslinks, stock shocks, and LX/XT components. I'm a stickler foor matching wares...same hubs, same brake types front and back, same color tires ;-)...so the 5000 being sold wouldn't really appeal to me, and I'd pick the 4000 instead. But to someone who's into telescopic forks and front discs, the 5000 might be a better solution.

I do think $600 is too much, but that's my opinion. used XTR goods are reasonably priced on eBay...I've got all M950/M952 series goods and the price was very reasonable...I mean, XTR wheels in great condition with Mavic ceramic 618 rims for $140...the deals are out there.

To me the deal killer would be the missing Crosslink. It's really what makes a ProFlex a ProFlex. Just my $0.02...

Thanks for the help on possible pricing.  BTW, I bought a set of matching tires but haven't been able to take any recent pics.  :)

Thanks again!

Saw this on Craigslist...seems like a nice deal for what looks to be comparable to a late model 856, frame and shock-wise:
