Wanted: Front COS or Speed Spring for 856 Rear
« Reply #330 on: September 29, 2008, 07:54:13 am »
Hello all,

Looks like we overwhelmed Callum, because he sold out of the COS kits before I could order a second front kit to try on the rear of my 856 (the rear spring he sent is just a little too stiff for me - I'm about 160 lbs, but more spread out on the bike). Any chance someone in this group has one they don't need (I really only need the spring, but would take a whole kit if available)? I'd go for an old Speed Spring, too as they seem to have similar spring retainers.

Thanks in advance!

I just contacted Callum re: COR springs for my Animal.  Looks like they got one order in after 6 months of people asking, and that another order went in shortly after that, so I'm hopeful there will be more springs available soon.  Doug, are you saying the front and rear COS springs are interchangeable, with the front spring being softer?
I'm still wrapping my head around all the different frame models, never mind unending suspension possibilities.

Hi Dave,

Yes, the springs have similar inner and outer diameters, as well as lengths, so you could put a front spring on a rear ODS and vice versa. That'show it is on my 856...my wife's 856, though, is a later model with Noleen coil over shocks, though...but if I had those I wouldn't have needed the COS's :-)

Basically Callum said he sources the rear spring for someone in the 165 - 170 lb range...I'm a little lighter, and my riding position is more spread out so not as much weight is on the seat. Because of that the rear is a little stiffer than I'd like...Callum said I might be able to use a front spring on the rear and just adjust the preload to yield the desired feel.

So my quest continues...but no big deal if I have to wait a bit.

Orange 5 frame on UK eBay
« Reply #336 on: October 14, 2008, 07:52:12 am »
So I had really planned on bidding on this frame...I've heard all of Callum's praise for the bike and was looking forward to trying one myself...but the seller wants GBP 105 for shipping, and it's hard to justify adding nearly USD 200 to the cost of an item just for shipping. So....

Crosslink cable hanger?
« Reply #338 on: October 14, 2008, 11:33:27 am »
Hello all,

Does anyone out there have the cable hanger adaptor for a Crosslink? It's a curved piece of aluminum that goes between the mounting holes on the insides of the Crosslink fork legs. I'm looking for one to use as a bracket for my Trinewt headlight (not liking the handlebar mount).

Thanks!

I was looking fr some a while back and someone posted a link to a "Brand X" cable stop at CahinReactionycles.com. I happened to have some cable adjusters from an old set of Bing carbs that worked as well.

Sheesh, can't believe that! There must be a few fraudulent bidders in there jacking up the price. Hopefully the seller will actually get paid when the auction is over.
